The casket, which held the mortal remains, was temporarily interned in the mausoleum, to be committed to the earth later. Pastor W.N. Merklin from the Presbyterian church led the service. Pallbearers were Messrs. James L. Scott, Isidor Merfeld, Christian Bohn, J.J. Habert, E.G. Pittmann and Jakob Voigt. Mr. Steeger was born in Leipzig and came to Baltimore 40 years ago. He worked there as a tailor until 7 years ago, when he retired from his business. During the last war he fought for the Union Army. He received an honorable discharge at the end of the war. He was a member of the "American Protective League." His wife and 8 children, as well as a large circle of friends and acquaintances are mourning his early demise. Flowers were from his wife and children, also from Mr. Kaufmann, S. Scott, E.G. Pittmann, C. Bohn, J.J. Habert , I. Merfeld, M. Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Dressel, Miss Jennie Smith, Hy. Kroth, A. Rau, Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Wick, Clara Wohn, Mr. Wohn, Mrs. Emilie Krauss, Chas. Koppenhoefer, Mrs. Griesmann, Mr. J.E. Roe, Mrs. E.J . Smith, and others.
