William Brown Chambers, b. 28 Oct 1843, d. 14 Jul 1909, marr. 17 Feb 1878 to Prudence Furgerson (this is how her surname is spelled in the Bible - also, she was called "Maud")." One other name is given in the Bible concerning this family - Mary Eva Scott, b. 16 Sep 1875 - this is the daughter of Isaac and Sarah and Robert and Martha's granddaughter. More has been learned about this family from Martha's and Sarah's Civil War Pension records. Robert and Martha were married in Franklin Co., Indiana, and they lived in Chicago, Illinois, when Robert enlisted as a Private into "E" Co., Kansas 7th Cavalry on 6 Nov 1861 (he was mustered in the same day). His son, William Brown Chambers, enlisted and mustered into the same unit on 4 Aug 1861 as a Corporal. Both re-enlisted on 1 Jan 1864 and were mustered out on 29 Sep 1865. Isaac Scott resided in Freeport, Illinois, at the time he enlisted as a Private on 29 Feb 1864. He was mustered into "K" Co., Illinois 46th Infantry on 1 Mar 1864 and mustered out on 20 Jan 1866 at Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Robert and Martha lived in Livingston Co., Illinois, at the end of their lives and my father says he had been told that they are buried in Fairbury, Livingston Co., IL. Sarah's death is not found in the Bible but according to her Civil War Pension records, she died in Jun or Jul 1923. Robert and Martha are my great-greatgrandparents and William and Prudence ("Maud") are my greatgrandparents.
