MD JR:B:311 To brother, Henry Downes, after his just debts are paid. To loving wife, all my personal estate during her natural life or so long as she may continue single, but at the same time my children (namely Mary and Philemon Downes) shall have a joint maintenance with my said wife, so long as they may continue single. To son, Henry Downes, one lott of ground beginning in the line that my new graining stands on (description of property follows). To dau. Mary, one other lott of ground (description follows). To son Philemon all the remainder and residue of my lotts of ground. It is my will that a deed of lease for 99 years and renewable forever be made by my executrix of my bro. Henry Downes under an annual ground rent of three pounds per year and every year according to a bond signed by the said Henry to Mr. Matthew Driver but which said bond is at this time in my possession - also a deed of lease as afsd. by my extx. afsd. to John Harris giving him 80' in front and 180' in back, etc. Ex. Wife and son Henry - that they dispose of so much of my personal estate as will pay my bro. Henry Downes - particularly my Negro man George to highest bidder. 23rd Jan 1796: Then came Elizabeth Downes, the executor named... and made oath (to validity of will). 23rd Jan 1796 Samuel Barrow, Henry Downes 0 make oath that the will is valid.
