NICK Mistress of Hamptead (Md) Farm Calls Yules Less Hectic Century Ago If experience counts for anything, Mrs. Matilda Stansbury knows more about celebrating Christmas than almost anybody in Baltimore. On Wednesday she received her one hundredth visit from Santa Claus. A resident of Hampstead, Carroll County, Mrs. Stansbury celebrated this Christmas at the home of her son, Dr. H. H. Stansbury, 106 Hilton Ave., Catonsville. Today, after one of her "best Christmases in years," Mrs. Stansbury told how she had seen all of her five living children during the holidays, how she had received visits from a number of her fifteen grandchildren, and how she had talked on the long-distance telephone with several of her eight great- grandchildren. Less Hectic Then Mrs. Stansbury was born near Barnesville, Mongomery county, on July 8, 1941. "Christmas in those days was a little different than it is now -- not quite so hectic," she recalled today. "Of course we had our Christmas tree and presents and on Christmas Day itself the house was always filled with neighbors. My father was a great man for a party and on Christmas he always had open house." Plans Birthday Party Mrs. Stansbury moved to her present home about fifty years ago. Her son, Charles, now runs the farm for his mother, allowing Mrs. Stansbury plenty of time for her crocheting, reading and raising flowers. "Actually, my real hobby is my children and their families. Seeing them all at Christmas is the best present I could have," she said. Right now Mrs. Stansbury is making plans for her one hundredth birthday party at her home next July. At that time she is going to entertain as many of her family as can possibly get to the house. Next Christmas? "Oh, I'll probably be back in Baltimore with my son again."
