Cutsail William E. Cutsail, 78, of Cape St. Claire and formerly of Carroll County, died from cancer on Saturday, May 1, 2004, at his home. Born in Gaither on February 18, 1926, Mr. Cutsail lost his father at the age of two and was raised by his loving and devoted grandparents, the late Lewis and Drusilla Thomas. He was the husband of Dorale "Dot" Cutsail of Cape St. Claire. He enlisted in the Navy in February of 1943 and served on Destroyer Escort Ingram. During his enlistment he crossed the Atlantic 18 times, was a torpedo man 2nd class, earned 5 medals including: American Campaign, European, Africa and Middle Eastern Campaign, Good Conduct, World War II medal and 50th Anniversary World War II medal. He loved his country and was honored to serve. As a craftsman, he enjoyed making "grandchildren chairs," cradles and deacon benches for the entire family. He and his wife claimed to have raised a "village of children" sponsoring children through World Vision and caring for many neighborhood children. Visiting one of the little girls in Seoul, Korea, was a highlight for Mr. Cutsail. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter Carol, a son David, a sister Gloria, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Services are private, with a memorial service by the Masons. Interment is in Springfield Cemetery, Sykesville. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Cape St. Claire United Methodist Church. Dickerson, 87, of Woodbine, formerly of Jacksonville, Florida, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Continuum Care, Sykesville. He was the husband of Natalie Virginia Hawkins Dickerson. He was born March 10, 1916, in Goodview, Va., the son of the late John Paul and Helen McFiggan Dickerson. Mr. Dickerson was a scheduler for CSX railways. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter, Emily Solomon of Woodbine, granddaughter Sarah Bassett and her husband Nathaniel of Woodbine and great- grandsons Alex, Scott and Steve Bassett. Ada MacBurney Ada Margaret Lynn MacBurney, 94, formerly of Daytona Beach, Florida, and Uniontown, Pa., died Friday, April 30, 2004 ,at Senior Constant Care in Sykesville. She was wife of the late Wilbur S. MacBurney. She was born August 8, 1909, in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, the youngest of five children to Clarence and Henderson Lynn. She graduated from Uniontown Hospital School of Nursing in 1929 and spent close to 35 years doing private duty nursing in Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Daytona Beach. She belonged to the Uniontown, Pa., No. 263 Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Lynne and Burt Over of Sykesville, granddaughter: Cathy and husband John Boteler of Laurel, grandson David Over, Sr., 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. "Margy" Naylor, 48, of Mount Airy died on Saturday, May 1, 2004, at her residence. She was the wife of Ricky C. Naylor, her husband of 16 years. Born on October 17, 1955, in Baltimore County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Hughes and Alice Burch Hughes of Towson. Mrs. Naylor was a homemaker. She enjoyed evangelizing and bringing people to the church. Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are 2 children; Britney Naylor and Kyle Naylor both at home; 2 brothers; Michael Hughes and wife Laura of Lutherville and Thomas Hughes, III and wife Vina of Catonsville; and a sister, Mary Lee Kroneberger of Cockeysville. Sipes Donald Edward Sipes, 77, of Sykesville, died Friday, April 30, 2004, at his home. Born December 7, 1926 in Missouri, he was the son of the late Hobart and Molly Sipes. He was the husband of Gloria Elizabeth Sipes of Sykesville, his wife of 54 years. He was retired from the military where he worked in communications. Surviving in addition to his wife are sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Linda Catherine Sipes of Baltimore and Neil and Beth Sipes of Elkridge; daughter and son-in-law Kathy Marie and Kurt Harden of Gaither; brothers Melvin Sipes of Sparks, Nevada, and Galen Sipes of Missouri; sisters Geneva Lincoln of Oregon, Missouri, and Wilma Vanderpous of Green Bay, Wisconsin; and grandchildren Ethan, Elizabeth and Samuel Harden of Gaither, and Hannah and Hunter Sipes of Elkridge. Interment will be private. *****May 14, 2004***** John Patrick Ford Mr. John Patrick Ford, Jr., 37, of Frederick, died Friday, May 7, 2004, at his residence. He was the husband of Tammy Abel Ford. Born August 9, 1966, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was the son of Carol Ale Ford of Germantown and John Patrick Ford of Gaithersburg. He was a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church of Frederick. He loved playing softball and had coached the church softball league. He especially loved spending time with his daughters, Pooh and Nina Bear. In addition to his wife and parents he is survived by two daughters Danielle Nichole and Morgan Taylor Ford at home; two brothers, Anthony C. Ford and wife Theresa and Lance S. Ford and wife Cynthia both of Frederick; his mother-in-law Mary Fontenot of Tennessee, his nieces and nephews Shane, Ashley, Joshua and Mackenzie Ford; and numerous aunts and uncles. Leona Meta Hinely Leona Meta Hinely, 95, of Olney, died at Lorien Assisted Living in Mount Airy on May 3, 2004. She was the wife of the late Reppard Morgan Hinely. She was born on March 10, 1909, in Kickwood, Missouri, and was the daughter of William and Meta Hansen Ziegennmmeyer She moved from Missouri to Washington, D.C. in 1927. She was a secretary at the Treasury Department before W.W.II and later at the Naval Ordnance Laboratory in White Oak. She was a charter member of Good Shepherd Methodist Church, Silver Spring. Her hobbies were reading, eating-out, and traveling in the United States, Canada, and Austria. Surviving are daughter Nancy L. Johnston of Woodbine; two sons, Douglas M. Hinely of Derwood and Gregory R. Jinely of Silver Spring; a granddaughter, Susan A. Staley of Mount Airy; five grandsons, Stephen A. Johnston of Baltimore, Todd M. Hinely of Odenton, Peter D. Hinely and John Andrew Hinely, both of Hawaii, and James E. Hinely of California; and three great-granddaughters, Melissa Marie Staley of Mount Airy and Mikayla and Sarah Morgan Hinely of California. Joppa Road, Towson, MD 21285. Bernard Kuhn Jr. Bernard Joseph Kuhn, Jr.,19, of Mount Airy, died Friday, May 7, 2004, at home after fighting a courageous 9-month battle with cancer. He was born August 11, 1984, in Baltimore, the son of Mary Lynn Myers-Kuhn and the late Bernard Joseph Kuhn, Sr. Mr. Kuhn had completed his freshman year at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., majoring in engineering. He was a 2002 graduate of Linganore High School where he was a member of the marching band and played the trumpet. He was a member of the National Honor Society. He preformed with Linganore High School's band in Walt Disney World on Easter of 2002 and also travel with the band on a Caribbean Band Cruise in spring of 2000. Mr. Kuhn played baseball for MAYAA basketball for four counties. He worked for Ken Lee at Mt. Airy Pharmacy and more recently worked at the Tractor Supply Company in Mount Airy. He was a member of the Simpson Gardening crew. Mr. Kuhn was a very kind person who loved animals and enjoyed tinkering with his 78 Bronco dirt bikes, his Dodge truck and John Deere tractors. Bernie had a long scouting career from Tiger Cubs and Cub Scouts with Pack 460 to Boy Scouts with Troop 460. He participated in 2 BSA High Adventure experiences at Philmont Scout Rank in New Mexico and the Eli Sommers Canoe Base in Minnesota. Mr. Kuhn earned his Coveted Eagle Scout award in August of 2002 after completing a butterfly garden in Wildwood Park, Mount Airy. He also received the Arrow of Light award in 1995. Besides his mother, he is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. James Holcomb Mulholland, 84, of Florida formerly of Randallstown died Thursday, May 6, 2004 . He was born on January 31, 1920, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the son of the late James B. and Frances T. Holcomb Mulholland. He attended Columbia Bible College in Georgia and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Theology from Texas Christian University. He continued his education and life-long devotion to God by earning his Masters Degree from Columbia Theological Seminary in Georgia, and was bestowed with an honorary doctorate degree in theology from Columbia International Seminary. Mr. Mulholland was ordained a Presbyterian Minister in 1949 and the first church in which he served was in Mississippi. He continued his service to our Lord as a missionary pastor to the Metlakatla Presbyterian Church in Alaska for four years and Williamston, New York, Presbyterian Church until he was then called to First Presbyterian Church in Randallstown, where he served for 27 years. His legacy lives on for the two congregations that gather in that very building and the stained glass windows in which he designed for the church still remain for the members to enjoy and be inspired by. Jim retired to Florida in 1985 and became the visitation pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Bradenton for six years and most recently was the visitation minister at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bradenton. He is predeceased by his wife of 57 years , Dr. Jean Mulholland. Ray, 81, of Mount Airy, died on Sunday, May 9, at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Baltimore. He was thc husband of Frances Sherman Ray his wife of 49 years. Born on July I1, 1922, in Anne Arundel County, he was the son of Roland R. and Bessie L. Gable Ray. He was a graduate of Glen Burnie High School. Mr. Ray was an industrial engineer for Westinghouse Corporation, retiring in the early 1980s after 22 years of service. After retirement "Russ" opened a metal molding business, R.&T Dip Bracing Company in Mount Airy located in what is now "Castle Center". Mt. Ray was also a veteran of W.W.II serving with the U.S. Army Field Artillery Corps. He was a life member of the Mt. Airy Lions Club. During his 34 years as a Lion he served on many committees and held most of its offices including president. He was a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Mt. Airy and a former member of Wesley Grove United Methodist Church in Harmans, Md. He was a dedicated husband and father, an avid Baltimore Orioles fan but most of all enjoyed being outdoors working on his 18-acre farm. He had been employed in drywall and construction. He loved sports, fishing, baseball and he especially loved his grandchildren. Christine Lynn LaRoi Christine Lynn LaRoi, 17 of Mount Airy, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at University Maryland Medical Center of injuries she sustained in an automobile accident, near her home. She was born May 9, 1987, in Columbia, Maryland, a daughter of Michael S. and Sheryln Swanson LaRoi of Mount Airy. Christine was a junior at Urbana High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the Thesbian Drama Club. She recently participated in the play "Swing." Christine was an avid dancer and belonged to many dance studios, most recently the 24/7 Dance Studio. Surviving besides her parents are a younger sister. Alan Owens Alan Clifton Owens, 84 of Woodbine, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at Northwest Hospital Center He was the husband of the late Mary Loretta Spicer Owens He was born May 5, 1920, in Annapolis Junction and spent most of his early life in Elkridge and moved to Woodbine after serving in the Navy during WWII He was the son of the late Robert and Annie Patterson Owens. Mr. Owens was a member of Westminster VFW Post 467 and American Legion Gold Star Post 191, Mt. Airy. Mr. Owens enjoyed raising beef cows and growing tomato plants and loved life. He had a warm and loving personality and gathered many friends along the way and was well respected by his neighbors and all that knew him. Born January 16, 1921, in North Carolina, he was the son of the late George A. and Asalie Webb. He was the husband of the late Carlis Beatrice Webb. He had been a laborer and truck driver for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII. "Betty" Zubovic, 84, formerly of Mount Airy, died May 16, 2004, at the Wilson Health Care Center in Gaithersburg. Born Oct. 11, 1919 in Boston, she was a daughter of the late Alfred B. and Mary Mahr Coty. She was the wife of the late Peter Zubovic. Mrs. Zubovic served in the Foreign Service for many years. Her favorite post was China. She was proud to be an "Old China Hand." She also served in Turkey, Italy and several South American countries. She worked at the National Institutes of Health until her retirement. Her hobbies included traveling, playing golf, playing bridge and going to the theater. Mrs. Zubovic was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Damascus for 30 years and a member of the Catholic Daughters. He was the husband of the late Mary BeCraft Carr and later married to Eva Totten Carr. He was born December 10, 1909, in Winfield, the son of the late Marshall G. Carr and late Gertrude Frizzell Carr. He was retired from being a truck driver and most recently had worked at McDonald's in Westminster. He was a member of The Church of the Open Door in Westminster. He is survived by daughter Patricia Ann Whitman of Sykesville, daughter Wanda Lee Rodriguez of Reisterstown, and numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Born on July 6, 1985, in Baltimore, he was the son of Michael Ray, Sr. and Lisa Marlene Brengle Haney of Westminster. Pete had recently begun warehouse work. He enjoyed doing odd jobs for people. He loved to hunt, go climbing and spend time with his friends. Surviving in addition to his parents are brothers Michael Haney, Jr., Matthew Haney and Shane Haney all of Westminster; nephew Cameron Haney; niece Destiny Haney; paternal grandparents Robert and Marilyn Haney of Piqua, Ohio and paternal-grandfather Linden E. Hardesty, 80, of Mount Airy, died on Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore, He was the husband of Jane S. Eaton Hardesty, his wife of 58 years. Born on June 23, 1923, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late John and Margaret Dietz Hardesty. He was an engineer with Westinghouse retiring in 1988 after 43 years service, Mr. Hardesty served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II and was a member of American Legion Gold Star, Mt Airy. He enjoyed woodcarving, camping, doing crossword puzzles and was a member of the Western Howard County Senior Center. Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Donna Hafner and husband Calvin of Taneytown, Bruce Hardesty and wife Dolly of Taylorsville, Terry Burch and husband Michael of Nashville, Tenn., Eileen Wilderman and husband Dean of Sykesville and Patricia Mohorovice and husband Dennis of Dundalk; 9 grandchildren, Lindsay Hafner, Michael and Tom Hardesty, Matthew, Daniel, Leach and Sarah Jane Burch, Amber and Dennis Mohorovic; a great granddaughter Kaylee Burch. Hennegan, Edward Joseph Hennegan, 59, of Eldersburg, died on Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at his home. Born on July 28, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Ret. Lt. Col. Edward J. Hennegan, USAF of Ft. Walton Beach, Flor., and the late Mary Charlotte Pottebaum Hennegan. He was the husband of Barbara Blatz Hennegan of Eldersburg. He had worked for 17 years for Digital Equipment until the mid 1990s. He then went into business with his son with D&E Hennegan Construction and was in business with his daughter at Beyond Antiques. He recently had worked at Home Depot in Eldersburg. He had served in the US Air Force from 1963-67. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Community and a 4th Degree Knight and member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #7612 where he had been very active until his illness. He was a member of Sykesville American Legion Post 223. She attended Milford Mill High School in Rockdale, Md. She was a homemaker and artist who enjoyed doing craft shows across the Middle Atlantic states. He was the owner of the J. H. Renehan Co., a water hauling company. He was a graduate of Glenelg High School, class of 1961. He had served in the US Army in the early 1960s. He was a retired Baltimore County Fireman after 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion, Sykesville Post #223, The Loyal Order of the Moose and the Retired Baltimore County Fireman's Association. He enjoyed playing slot machines. Mark Douglas Schultheis Sr. Mark Douglas Schultheis Sr., 50, of Manchester, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore. Born June 9, 1953 in Maryland, he was the son of the late John H. and Evelyn Wagner Schultheis. He was the husband of Suzanne Schultheis of Manchester. He had been employed with Mainline Automotive in Baltimore for many years. Wissel, 89, of Eldersburg died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at the Carroll Hospital Center, Westminster. Born May 20, 1914, in Maryland he was the son of the late Wayrich and Mancella Hornick Wissel. He was retired from Proctor Silex. He was a veteran of WWII and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church Community. He is survived by 2 brothers, Neri James Wissel and Joseph Edward Wissel, both of Sykesville. He was predeceased by siblings Gerard, Edwin, Paul and Bert Wissel and Miriam Anderson.
