Obituary - Carroll County, Maryland - 1930

Taneytown's Oldest Resident is Dead

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth McGUIGAN, aged 91, passes away - Funeral next Thursday

The oldest resident of Taneytown and the head of a family of 109 descendants, 
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth McGUIGAN, widow of George McGUIGAN, died last evening 
(14 Apr 1930) at 6 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Augustus L. 
MORELOCK, that place, following a lingering illness from infirmities incident 
to old age.  Her condition became serious three weeks ago.  She was aged 91 
years, 5 months and 12 days.

Mrs. McGuigan was a daughter of the late Peter and Susanna MARK and had been 
married twice, her first husband being Benjamin F. FLEAGLE.  Her late husband 
died about nine years ago.  

She is survived by the following children from the first union:  
Mrs. Augustus L. MORELOCK, Taneytown; John FLEAGLE, New York; 
Mrs. Mary STARNER, Union Bridge; Mrs. Edward WINTERS, Taneytown; 
Mrs. Charles DAVIDSON, Philadelphia; Mrs. Lewis A. KOHR, Hanover; 
Edward FLEAGLE, Yonkers, NY; Elmer FLEAGLE, Hagerstown; 
Mrs. Arthur LEWIS, Detroit; George FLEAGLE, York; 
27 grandchildren; 66 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held from the Morelock home at Taneytown on 
Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock with the Rev. A.T. Sutcliffe, pastor 
of Trinity Lutheran Church, that place, officiating.  Burial will be made 
in Mt. Joy Cemetery, Barlow.  

The pallbearers will be:  Richard KESSELRING, D.J. HESSON, F.E. CROUSE, 
W.G. YINGLING, D.W. GARNER and William LITTLE.  
C.O. Fuss and Son, Taneytown are the funeral directors.
