Stansbury. Aunt Matilda passed away at her home on South Main Street at the advanced age of 101 years, two months and 19 days. Death was due to pneumonia, which developed Saturday evening following her confinement to her bed when she broke her hip in a fall last Monday evening. Prior to her accident on Monday she was active and retained a clear and keen mind up to the last. Aunt Matilda had been a resident of Hampstead community for over 61 years having come to Carroll County in 1881 from Montgomery County. She was born July 8, 1841, near Barnesville, Montgomery County. She was the last of eight children. She was an expert horsewoman in her youth. From 1881 to 1895 she resided on a farm near Hampstead. Her husband, the late Alpheus Stansbury, preceded her in death 27 years ago. Surviving are the following children: Dr. Henry H. Stansbury, Catonsville; Mrs. Edward K. Baker, Howardsville; Mrs. Harry P. Cann, Roland Park; and Miss Mary and Charles Stansbury at home. A sister-in-law, Mrs. Whitefield, Prospect Hill, is 95 years of age. Fifteen grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren also survive. She was a faithful member of the Hampstead Methodist Church. Funeral Services were conducted at the home on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial in the family lot in the Hampstead Cemetery."
