It reported discovery of the long-missing Fisher family bible. "Both covers were off," the letter said, "but inside I found the official record of births, marriages, and deaths…." The letter was signed by my wife’s first cousin Charlotte Hilda (Fisher) Blake. It contained a complete transcript of the recorded marriages, births, children, and deaths, as reproduced below. "Also hidden away between some pages," Charlotte wrote, "I found an agreement for the rental of the family farm to Samuel David Fisher in 1883 in return for which he promised to farm & give a share of the crops. Here’s a copy of the records – If any List members make a connection here, I would appreciate email, a phone call -- or even snail mail! We are especially interested in extending this family further back into the 19th, 18th and even 17th centuries if possible. ===================================== NOTE: A question mark (?) replacing a day in the dates is not an error! It indicates doubt or lack of information as to the actual day of the month. -- glt ============================ Samuel David Fisher [and] Agnes Rebecca McClintock were married Nov. 21, 1871 at home by Rev. They were the progenitors of everyone listed in that bible record except for spouses. Agnes R. was born 16 March 1853 in Perryville MD. This is located somewhere just southwest of Hagerstown. She died in Philadelphia in 1929. She was the daughter of James T. McClintock and Mary Jane Fisher. Agnes was not related to her husband Samuel D. Fisher -- not closely, anyway -- whom she married 21 Nov. 1871. The bible is now in the possession of Charlotte Hilda (Blake)Staedtler, daughter of Lottie Hilda Fisher and D. Arthur Blake. She lives in retirement with her husband in Lancaster County, PA. She refers questions about the book to George L. Thurston III, whose wife is a first cousin of Charlotte's.
