Witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of One thousand dollars now owing to one Jacob T Biddle of said County and State upon a certain promissory note bearing even date herewith, and payable one year after date, and for better Securing the payment thereof with interest they the said John W Egnor and Matilda Egnor his wife do grant unto the said Jacob T Biddle his heirs or assigns all that tract, part of a tract or parcel of land situate in Cecil County aforesaid and in the Fourth Election District thereof, Containing One hundred acres more or less, which was conveyed to the said John W Egner by Alexander Scott and wife by Deed dated the twenty fourth day of March in the year Eighteen hundred and Sixty (1860) and Recorded among the Land Records of Cecil County aforesaid in Liber WHR No 2 folio 563 etc, to which said Deed and to the Deeds and papers therein reference is hereby made for a full and particular description of said parcel of land; together with all and singular the buildings and improvements, rights, privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining (Saving and excepting thereout and therefrom a small parcel of land containing four acres more or less, which was conveyed by the said Egnor and wife to one John Lowery by Deed dated the Second day of April in the year Eighteen hundred and Sixty six and Recorded among the Land Records of Cecil County aforesaid in Liber HRT No 1 folio 107. Provided that if the said John W Egnor his heirs, executors or administrators shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid to the said Jacob T Biddle his executors or administrators or assigns the said sum of One thousand dollars with interest thereon from this date in one year from the date hereof according to the said promissory note, then this Mortgage shall be void. In witness whereof the said John W Egnor and Matilda Egnor his wife have hereto set their hands and Seals. At the same time personally appeared Jacob T Biddle the party Mortgagee to the foregoing Mortgage and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration mentioned in said Mortgage is true and bona fide as herein set forth.
