Bill of Sale from Joseph R BROWN to M Augusta BOLAND (1877)

I, Joseph R Brown of the Ninth Election District of Cecil County, Maryland in 
consideration of the sum of Nine hundred dollars paid me by M Augusta Boland of 
Kennett Square, Chester County, Pennsylvania, the receipt of which is hereby 
acknowledged, do bargain and Sell to the said M Augusta Boland, the following 
personal property now in my possession, viz:  Seven head of cows, three head of 
steers, three heifers, one brown horse about Seven years old, one dunn[sic] mare 
fifteen years old, one bay horse four years old, two ploughs, two cultivators, 
one harrow, one corn sheller, one roller, three setts[sic] of wagon harness, one 
sett[sic] of carriage harness, one two horse wagon, one Rockaway carriage, a lot 
of double & single trees, a lot of corn in the ear, now cribbed, a lot of wheat, 
oats and rye in the barn, a lot of hay, straw and corn fodder, sixteen acres of 
wheat in the ground and about five acres of rye, a lot of about seventy bushels 
of potatoes, nine head of hogs, one hay rigging, a lot of poultry consisting of 
chickens and turkies[sic], a lot of household goods, consisting of one cook 
stove and the fixtures, two parlor stoves, one desk, five bedsteads, and the 
bedding on the same, two dining tables, a lot of carpet on the floor, a lot of 
chairs, one double barreled shot gun, and one rifle.
Witness my hand and seal this Twenty third day of Novr Eighteen hundred and 
Seventy seven.

I hereby certify that on this 23rd day of Novr 1877, personally appeared before 
me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for 
Cecil County, Joseph R Brown, and did acknowledge the aforegoing Bill of Sale to 
be his act and deed, and also at the same time and place personally appeared the 
said M Augusta Boland and made affirmation in due form of law that the 
consideration therein mentioned is just and true and bona fide as stated.
