Know All Men By These Presents, That we John S Henderson, John P Deviney, Jno W 
Egnor and John Lowery of Cecil County in the state of Maryland are held and 
firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum of Seventeen 
Thousand seven hundred dollars current money, to be paid to the said State or 
its Certain Attorneys, to the payment whereof will and truly t be made and done 
we bind ourselves and each of us, our and each of our heirs, executors and 
administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents Sealed with our 
seals and dated this ____ day of _____ Anno Domini Eighteen hundred and seventy.  
Whereas the County Commissioners of Cecil County have duly appointed the above 
named John Henderson Collector of Taxes in the Fourth Election District of Cecil 
County for the year Eighteen hundred and seventy.  Now the condition of the 
above obligation is such that if the above bound John Henderson shall will and 
faithfully execute his office and shall account for and pay to the County 
Commissioners or their order, the several sums of money which he shall receive 
for the County or be answerable for by Law, at such times as the Law shall 
direct, then this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full form and 
virtue in Law.

On this fifth day of July AD 1870 before me the subscriber one of the Justices 
of the Peace for Cecil County personally appeared Thomas J Scott the subscribing 
witness to the above bond or obligation and made oath in due form of law that 
they did see the obligors named in said Bond severally sign seal and deliver the 
same as their act and deed on the day upon which the same purports to have been 
executed.
