Whereas David Steel by indenture of mortgage bearing date 17 May 1838 duly executed, acknowledged and recorded among the land records of Cecil County Court in Liber JS #42 Folio 33 one of the land records books of Cecil County did for and in consideration of the sum of $100 current money grant, bargain, sell and confirm unto the said James Ewing deceased his heirs and assigns all that part or parcel of land owned by the said Steel's father James Steel and will's bequeaths unto the said David Steel situated and being in Cecil County joining lands of James Ewing, Thomas Reynolds, Daniel Job and others as by reference to the said deed of mortgage will more fully appear. And whereas the said Benjamin Miller, Executor of James Ewing deceased doth agree to execute this instrument of writing as a full release of the above described property. Whereas the said David Steel hath fully paid and satisfied to him the said Benjamin Miller, Executor of James Ewing deceased, the above mentioned sum of money and interest thereon. Now this indenture witnesseth that the said Benjamin Miller, Executor of James Ewing deceased for and in consideration of the payment of the above mentioned sum of money and the interest thereon and for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to him in hand paid by the said David Steel, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, hath given, presented, bargained and sold, released and confirmed and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain, sell, and release and confirm unto the said David Steel his heirs and assigns forever the above mentioned and described tract or parcel of land purchased by a certain James Armstrong. To have and to hold the said herein described premises with the appointenances. There unto belonging unto the said David Steel his heirs and assigns to the only proper use of the said David Steel, his heirs and assigns forever. In testamony whereof the said Benjamin Miller, Executor of James Ewing deceased has hereunto put his hand and seal on the and year first mentioned.
