All Rights Reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm ********************************************************* Indenture between John A J CRESWELL and Elizabeth RICARD (1856) Cecil County Land Record Book, Liber HHM, Number 6, Folio 307 This Indenture made and Executed this Twenty First day of March in the Year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty six by and between John A J Creswell of Cecil County in the State of Maryland of the one part and Elizabeth Ricard wife of Philip A Ricard of the same County and State of the other part. Witnesseth, That for and in consideration of the sum of Five Thousand dollars Current Money by the said Elizabeth Ricard to the said John A J Creswell in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which he doth hereby acknowledge – the said John A J Creswell hath granted bargained and sold aliened Enfeoffed released conveyed and confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell alien Enfeoff release convey and confirm unto the said Elizabeth Ricard her heirs and assigns all those certain Tracts, pieces or parts of Tracts of Land lying and being in Cecil County aforesaid called “Bel Air” and “Providence” and containing, together Two Hundred and forty seven Acres More or less. Which was conveyed to the said John A J Creswell by the aforesaid Philip A Ricard by his Deed bearing Even date herewith but Executed before the Execution hereof and to be Recorded among the land Records for Cecil County, to which said Deed, and the several other Deeds therein mentioned, reference is hereby made for a More full and accurate description of the said Land. Together with all and singular the buildings, improvements, woods, ways, Waters, Water Courses rights members privileges, advantages and appurtenances thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining and all the Estate right title and interest trust property claim and demand Whatsoever both at Law and in Equity of him the said John A J Creswell of in and to the same, To Have and To Hold the said herein above mentioned premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said Elizabeth Ricard her heirs and assigns, to the only proper use of the said Elizabeth Ricard her heirs and assigns forever. In Witness whereof the said John A J Creswell hath hereunto set his hand and seal, on the day and year above written. Jno A J Creswell Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of Edmund Brown, Sch State of Maryland Cecil County Sch Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this Twenty first day of March in the year of Our Lord Eighteen Hundred and Fifty six, before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for Cecil County aforesaid personally appears John A J Creswell he being Known to me of my own personal Knowledge to be the identical person, who is named and described as and professing to be the party grantor to the forgoing deed or indenture and doth acknowledge the said indenture or instrument of writing to be his act and deed.
