Society Tract
Written: October 4, 1717

Cecil County Land Records JS #3 Folio 115

4 October 1717 Indenture between Charles Carroll of Annapolis of one part and 
Joseph Steel of Cecil County, Planter of the second part. For 42 pounds 13 
shilling paid by the said Joseph Steel part of the Society Tract 321 acres of 
land. Beginnning at a marked corner oak and standing on the East side of the 
head of a tract of land called Spring Queen being a branch of the West branch 
of the Elk River and being on an angle of the John Bristow land and thence 
running by the said Bristow land and the head of the said branch North 54 
degrees East 20 perches then North 10 degrees, East 97 perches then East 40 
perches then North Northeast 100 perches then Southeast by South 80 perches 
then East 43 perches then South 120 perches, then South 29 degrees, East 100 
perches then South 80 perches then South 58 degrees West 31 perches then West 
by North 102 perches then North 27 degrees East 47 perches then North 1 
degree, West 34 perches then North 40 degrees East 30 perches then North 61 
degrees West 80 perches South 35 degrees West 74 perches then by a line to the 
beginning. Containing 321 acres. Property is suspected of being in 
Pennsyvania.
