The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Cecil County Land Record Book, Liber JTG, Number 6, Folio 27 This Mortgage, made the Twenty third day of November in the year one thousand Eight hundred and ninety three Between Georgeanna Kiscaden and Luther Kiscaden her Husband of Cecil County in the State of Maryland of the first part and Mollie D Arbuckle of the same County and state of the Second part Witnesseth that the said party of the first in consideration of the Sum of Eight hundred dollars lawful money of the United States to them duly paid has sold and by these presents does grant and convey to the said party of the second part all that certain piece or parcel of land lying and being in Cecil County in the State of Maryland which is described and bounded as follows. Beginning at a corner formerly known as James Tweeds land and running with said lands North nine and half degrees forty four and two tenths perches; to lands formerly owned by Robert Gallaher thence North eighty degrees West one hundred and twenty nine perches, with said lands to land formerly owned by Thomas Tongs thence South ten degrees west forty three and eight tenths perches with said land to land formerly owned by William B Cripps, thence south eighty degrees east one hundred and twenty Eight and one half perches, along lands formerly owned by Jacob Markee, Alexander Scott and John Egnor to the place of Beginning Containing Thirty five acres one rood and fourteen perches of land more or less. and also the free and uninterrupted right of way to land from the same that is to say the said Mollie Arbuckle her heirs and assigns shall use and occupy as a road a certain road leaving the Cherry Hill and Cowantown road near the dweling house of a certain David T Devlin, said road is twenty feet wide until it runs up to or near the woodland sold Jethro J McCullough to John Smith then leaving said road and passing through the woodland of said John Smith along its Eastern line to other lands of said Jethro J McCullough thence along the Eastern line thereof to the lands hereby bargained and sold said road after it leaves the original twenty feet is to be fourteen feet wide Being the same land which was conveyed to Thomas Peterson by Tobias Peterson Jr and wife by their deed dated the sixteenth day of March Eighteen hundred and Sixty four and recorded in Liber WHR No 7, folio 117 one of the land record books of Cecil County aforesaid. This grant is intended as a Security for the Payment of Eight hundred Dollars, on the Twenty third day of November one thousand eight hundred and ninety four with Interest thereon payable annually at the rate of Six percent per annum which payment if duly made will render this conveyance void and if default shall be made in the payment of the principal or interest above mentioned then the said party of the Second part and his assigns are hereby authorized to Sell the premises above granted or so much thereof as will be necessary to satisfy the amount then due with the cost and Expenses allowed by law and it is also agreed by and between the parties to these presents that the said parties of the first part shall and will keep the Buildings, Erected and to be Erected upon the lands above conveyed Insured against loss and damage by fire Insurance and in an amount approved by the said part of the Second part and assigns the Policy and Certificates thereof to the part of the Second part and in default thereof it shall be lawful for the said party of the Second part to Effect such insurance and the premium and premiums paid for Effecting the same shall be a lien on the said Mortgaged premises and added to the amount of the said mortgage and secured by these presents and payable on demand with Interest at the rate of Six per anum In Witness whereof the parties to these presents have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.
