All Rights Reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm ********************************************************* “Mortgage” Bill of Sale from George WHITESIDE to Matthew BORLAND (1861) Cecil County Land Record Book, Liber WHR, Number 5, Folio 76 I George Whiteside of Cecil County, of the State of Maryland, being now indebted to Matthew Borland, of the said County and State, in the sum of four Hundred dollars, With interest from the date hereof, In Consideration thereof, do hereby bargain and Sell to the said Matthew Borland, the following property, that is to say, One Bay Horse, four Pigs, one three Spring, one Horse Waggon[sic], one Rockaway Carriage, two Setts[sic]of Single Harness, two plows, one Harrow, one fluke[?], & all my interest in the Corn & oats Crop on the Providence farm, three feather Beds & three flock Beds, bed steads & bed clothes for all, two bureaus, four Tables, two Stands, twenty two Chairs, one Cook Stove & one Clock, Seventy five yards of Carpet, two looking Glasses, one Clock & a lot of Books. Provided that if the said George Whiteside shall pay to the said Matthew Borland the said sum of four hundred dollars, with interest thereon, on or before one year from the date hereof, then these presents shall be void. And at the same time and place Matthew Borland came before me and made oath in due form of law, that the Consideration named in the aforegoing Bill of Sale is Just true and bonafide.
