Witnesseth, that in Consideration of the Sum of one thousand five hundred dollars now due from Matthew Borland and Amanda Borland, his wife, of Cecil County in the State of Maryland to Washington Alexander of Chester County Pennsylvania, the said Matthew Borland and Amanda his wife, doth grant unto the said Washington Alexander, All that tract of land and premises, situate in Cecil County aforesaid, Contained within the following Courses and distances. Beginning at a Stone being the southeasterly Corner of the same and a Corner of lands of John McClary, and John and Charles Morrison, Hence as the needle now points, North one degree East sixty three perches and fifty two hundredths to a stake on the north side of the Christianna road thence with said Road South eighty-eight degrees West fifty seven perches and twenty four hundredths to a stake, thence North eighty six and a half degrees West twenty four perches and five tenths to a stake on the Race bank, thence with said Race bank South twenty six degrees East four perches and four tenths to a Stake, thence South thirteen and a quarter degrees, West twelve perches and six tenths to a stake thence South thirty seven degrees West ten perches and six tenths, thence South thirty two and half degrees West seven perches and six tenths thence South two and half degrees West twelve perches and eight tenths to the line of lands of William Lair, formerly Richard Brookings thence North seventy one degrees, East ten perches to a stake, thence South forty eight degrees East five perches and four tenths to a stake thence South three degrees, East seven perches and five tenths to a stake, thence South thirty-two degrees East ten perches to a stake thence South seventy four and a half degrees East thirteen perches and seven tenths to a white oak tree, marked with two blares and a Cut between thence South forty-three degrees, East nine perches and eight tenths to a Chestnut tree, thence South twenty five degrees East ten perches to a stake in the line of lands of John McClary, thence North degrees 1/2 [sic*] East twelve perches and seventy two hundredths to a Stone, thence North seventy four and a half degrees, East seventeen perches and twenty four hundredths to a Stone thence North seventy six degrees East twenty two perches to the place of Beginning. Containing thirty two acres of land, more or less. Provided that if the said Matthew Borland and Amanda Borland his wife shall pay on or before the twenty fifth day of March in the year eighteen hundred and sixty five to the said Washington Alexander the sum of one thousand five hundred dollars, with the interest thereon from the twenty fifth day of March eighteen hundred and sixty four, agreeably to a Certain obligation bearing even date herewith, in the penal sum of three thousand dollars, then this Mortgage shall be void. At the same time also personally appeared Washington Alexander the above Mortgagee and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the Consideration in the above Mortgage is true and bona fide as therein set forth.
