Witnesseth that in Consideration of the sum of one thousand eight hundred and seventy five Dollars now due from Matthew Borland and Amanda Borland his wife of Cecil County in the State of Maryland to James Mackey of the place aforesaid, the said Matthew Borland and Amanda Borland doth grant unto the said James Mackey All those Certain tracts or parcels of land and premises Contained in the following described deeds, viz – The first is a tract of land which the said Matthew Borland purchased of the said James Mackey as per deed bearing date the eighth day of April 1847 and recorded in Liber GMC No 13 folio 173 one of the land Record Books of Cecil County aforesaid. The second lot Contains two acres and thirty seven hundredths, purchased of John Cornish as per deed bearing date the 28th day of February 1854 – and Recorded in Liber HHM No 2 folio 609 – one of the land Record Books of Cecil County aforesaid. The third lot Contains ten acres and two tenths, purchased of John Markie[sic] as per deed bearing date the 14th day of October 1862 – and Recorded in Liber WHR No 4 folio 453 etc one of the land Record Books of Cecil County aforesaid. The fourth lot Contains seventeen acres purchased of Walter Armstrong as per deed bearing date the _th day of March 1864. The fifth lot Contains thirty two acres, purchased of the said James Mackey as per deed bearing date the _th day of March 1864. Refference[sic] had to said deeds will more fully and at large appear. Provided that if the said Matthew Borland and Amanda Borland his wife shall pay on or before the twenty fifth day of March 1866 to the said James Mackey the sum of one thousand eight hundred and seventy five dollars with the interest thereon from the twenty fifth day of March 1864 Agreeably to a Certain obligation bearing even date herewith, in the penal sum of three thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars, then this Mortgage shall be void. Matthew Borland Amanda Borland Test John W Ewing State of Maryland Cecil County to wit I hereby Certify that on this twenty fifth day of March Eighteen hundred and sixty four before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the said State of Maryland in and for Cecil County personally appeared Matthew Borland and Amanda Borland his wife, and did each Acknowledge the foregoing deed to be their respective act. At the same time also personally appeared James Mackey the above named Mortgagee and made oath on the Holy Evangelly[sic] of Almighty God that the Consideration in the above Mortgage is true and bona fide as therein set forth.
