Haslett Owens (sic) of Perryville Cecil County Maryland, being of sound mind, memory and understanding, do make and publish this, my last will and testamint, hereby resolving and makeing void all former wills by me at anytime heretofore made. And first, I direct that my body be decently interred in the 1st Episcopal burying ground at N. East. Cecil Co Md according to the rites and ceremonies of the Prot Episcopal Church, and that my funeral be conducted in a manner corresponding with my situation in life. 1st Item I direct and request my executors, herein after mentioned, to pay all my just debts, and funeral expenses before the legacies and bequests herein mentioned are pair, As to such estate as it hath pleased God to intrust me with, I dispose of the same as follows. Viz. 2nd Item I devise and bequeath unto my Daughter Virginia Ann, Touchstone, wife of James Touchstone of Cecil County the sum of Five Hundred Dollars. 3rd Item I devise and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Edith Cochrane, the sum of three Hundred Dollars, and one Feather bed. 4th Item I devise and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Clara Cochrane the sum of Two Hundred Dollars 5th Item I devise and bequeath unto Jenny Stannton Daughter of Frances Ann Norris the sum of Three Hundred Dollars Over 6th Item I devise and bequeath unto my son, John W. T. Owens, the House that He now resides in, with lot adjoining same fronting on Pert Deposit Road and binding on same Forty feet, and running back One Hundred feet to him the said John W. T. Owens his Heirs, or assigns forever. 7th Item I devise and bequeath to my Sons Ira Owens all that certain lot or parcel of ground binding on Pert Deposit Road Forth feet and running back one Hundred Feet adjoining lands of -- Hewitt and Owens. And I further devise and bequeath to the said Ira Owens the sum of Four Hundred Dollars. 8th Item I devise and bequeath unto my Grand daughter Ann F. Owens, Daughter of Wm. Owens deceased, the sum of Fifty Dollars 9th Item I devise and bequeath unto my Son Leslie Owens the sum of Five Hundred Dollars 10th Item I devise and bequeath unto my Son Geo. H. Owens the sum of One Hundred Dollars 11th Item I devise and bequeath unto my Daughter (next line illegible due to paper fold) 12th Item I devise and bequeath unto my Daughter, Rebecca, Alice Cole, the sum of Four Hundred Dollars 13th Item I devise and bequeath, all the residues I and remainder of my estate, both Real and personal, be equally divided between my Sons, Elmer Owens, and Hazlett F. Owens, or their Heirs or assigns forever. 14th Item My Executors are required to pay all the within money Legacies within one year from the day on my death. 15th Item I do hereby constitute and appoint my Sons Elmore Owens and Hazlett F Owens - to be the Executors of this my last will and Testamint, and I do hereby further confirm and and ratify this as my last will and Testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this second day of October in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighty Six. Finnnan I, Hazlet Owens being of sound mind memory and understanding - do hereby make and publish this codicil to my last will and testament above written - For good and sufficient reasons, I hereby change Item 3rd of my last will - so as to read as follows. I devise and bequeath to my Grand Daughter Edith Cochrane the sum of Five Hundred Dollars and one feather bed, for the same good reasons I hereby change item 4th so as to read as follows . I devise and bequeath unto Jenny Stannton, Daughter of Francis, Ann, Morris the sum of One Hundred Dollars, In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this Twenty Second day of April Eighteen Hundred and Eighty Seven. Finnan I, Hazlet Owens being of sound mind memory, and understanding, do hereby make and publish this codicil to my last Will and Testament; For good and sufficient reasons, I hereby change Item thirteenth of my will, to as to read as follows. I devise and bequeath to my Son Hazlet F. Owens the Sum of Five Hundred Dollars. And all the residue and remainder of my Estate both real & personal (after paying the legacies mentioned in my last will) I devise and bequeath to my son Elmer Owens, or his assigns forever. And for the same good reason I change Item fifteenth to read as follows, I do hereby constitute and appoint my Son Elmer Owens to be the sole executor of this my last will and Testament. For the same good reasons, I change Item (7) to read as follows. I bequeath to my son Ira Owens a note of his which I now hold dated July the tenth Eighteen Hundred and Eighty Three, for Three Hundred Dollars and one Hundred Dollars in Cash, and do hereby further confirm and ratify this as my last codicil, to my last will and Testament. In Testamony whereof I have hereunto let my hand and seal this the Fifth day of December Eighteen Hundred and Eighty Eight.
