WEST (1918), Cecil County, MD Contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Holly Derby http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************************** PETITION FOR THE LETTERS OF ADMINSTRATION TO THE HONORABLE, THE JUDGES OF THE ORPHANS'S COURT OF CECIL COUNTY: In the matter of settlement of the Estate of George J West late of Cecil County, deceased: The petition of Mary L West respectfully showeth that George J West a resident of Cecil County, State of Maryland, departed this life at near Rising Sun in said County, on the 15th day of July A.D., 1918 at 3 o'clock am, leaving no last will and testament that has come to the knowledge or possession of your petitoner; that said decedent left surviving him the following heirs-at-law, viz: your Petitioner, his widow, Raymond H West, aged 25 years, Harvey B West, aged 17 years, Homard R West, 13 years, and two children from a former marriage, Emma A Donegan (sic) and Estella J Effing. There for your petitioner respectfully applies for Letters of Administration upon the personal estate of the deceased. Mary L West (signature) CECIL COUNTY, SS: Personally appeared Mary L West petitioner named in the above application, who being duly sworn according to law, did depose and say that the matters and things set forth in the foregoing petition are true to the best of her knowledge, information and belief. KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, THAT WE, Mary L West, James E Nickle and Viola Florence Nickle are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the just and full sum of Two Hundred dollars current money, to be paid unto said State, to which payment, well and truly to be made and done, we bind ourselves, and every of us, and every of our heirs, executors and administrators, in the whole and for the whole jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated this 17th day of December in the year nineteen hundred and eighteen. THE CONDITION of the above Obligation is such, that if the above bounden Mary L West shall well and truly perform the office of Administrix of George J West late of Cecil county, Md deceased, according to law, and shall in all repects dicharge the duties of him required by law, as Admtrix aforesaid, without any injury or damage to any person interested in the faithful performance of the duties of said office, then the above obligation shall be void; it is otherwise to be in full force and virtue in law. Admtrix of George J West late of Cecil County, Md deceased, and made oath in due form of law that she would well and truly adminster the goods, chattels, personal estate, and credits of said deceased, to the best of her knowledge, according ot law, and give a just account of her administration, when thereunto lawfully called; also that she would diligently and faithfully regard, and well any truly comply with the laws of Maryland, imposing a tax on commisions allowed to executors and adminstrators, and a tax on collateral inheritances, distribute shares and legacies. TEST: Rufus D Rowland Register signature First and Final Acct of Mary L West, (now Greenfield) Administratix of George J West, deceased This accountant chargeth herself with the amot of cash in National Bank of Rising $150.00 Sun at death of the deceased And this accountant claims an allowance for the following disbursement: For Amoount paid State Tax of 1% on assets of Estate as required by Acts of 1916. $1.50 For Amount paid Mrs. Jennie Taylor, funeral expenses, as per statement 151.45 For Amount paid to Dr. Ernest Rowland, medical attention 7.50 For Amount paid Court Costs in final settlement of the estate 2.40 _________ Amt of disbursements, $162.85 CECIL COUNTY SCT: Feb 11th 1920 Then came Mary L West the aforesaid accountant, and made oath in due form of law, that the aforegoing Account as stated, is just and true, and that she hath bona fide paid or secured to be paid the several sums for which she claims an allowance thereon.
