First this account is charged with the goods and chattels of the deceased. Randolph Davis - Francis Hickey - of Charles County Sureties Representatives, the Widow and 10 children, Susanna, John, Mary Contee, Ann at age Sarah, William, Henry, Jane, Catherine and James under age. Charles County Sct. 4th May 1794 Then came Jane Lyon the accountant within mentioned and made on the Holy Evangels of almighty God that the foregoing account is just and true and stated that she hath bond fide paid or secured to be paid the particular sums for which claims an allowance which thereupon after due examination is passed by John Muschett Reg. Of Wills Charles County Sct. 4th May 1794 Jane Lyon Administratrix of James Lyon late of Charles County deceased. August 23rd 1803 then came John Lyon Administrator of Jane Lyon late of Charles County deceased and made oath on the Holy Evangels of almighty God that the a foregoing is a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods and chattels of the said deceased that came to his hands or possession at the time of the making and that what hath since or shall hereafter come to his hands or possession he will return in an additional Inventory, that he knows of no concealment of any part or parcel of the deceased Estate by any person whatsoever and that if he shall hereafter discover any concealment or suspect any to be, he will acquaint the orphans court or the Register thereof with such concealment or cause of suspicion that it may be inquired into according to law. Know all men by these presents that we John Lyon, Perigrine Davis and George Dyson Reeves of Charles County are held and firmly bound unto the state of Maryland in the full and just sum of two thousand pounds current money to which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves and every of us our and every of our heirs executors and administrators in the whole and for the whole jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this nineteenth day of July one thousand eight hundred and three. The condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden John Lyon shall well and truly perform the office of Administrator of Jane Lyon late of Charles County deceased according to law and shall in all respects perform the duties of line required by law as Administrator aforesaid without due injury or damage to any person entrusted in the peaceful performance of the said office then the above obligation shall be void, it is otherwise to be in full force and virtue in law. Of money due by the deceased to James Canter Administrator of William Canter and paid by this accountant as is receipt appears. Representatives of the deceased - Susannah Reeves, John Lyon, Mary Lyon, Ann Lyon, Sarah Lyon, William Lyon, Henry Lyon, Jane Lyon, Catharine Lyon and James Lyon. Charles County Sct. March 10th 1810 then came John Lyon the accountant above mentioned and made oath on the Holy Evangels of almighty God that the above account as it stands stated is just and true and that he hath actually and bond fide paid or secured to be paid the particular sums for which he claims an allowance which thereupon after due examination is passed. Distribution - To Susannah Reeves, John Lyon, Mary Lyon, Phillip Swann in right of his wife Ann, Sarah Lyon, William Lyon, Henry Lyon, Jane Lyon, Catharine Lyon and James Lyon 1/10 of the above balance each child's part. Of Wills Source: Charles County Register Of Wills 1808-1812 (Administration Accounts) Film # MSA CR 39,594 October Term 1803 Orphans Court Charles County Maryland James Lyon a minor thirteen years of age the 14th day of January next is by the court put under the Guardianship of William Lyon his brother who being present accepts thereof. Whereupon it is ordered by the court that the Estate of said minor be delivered into the hands of his Guardian he being bond and security according to law. Samuel Amery and Walter Dyson appointed appraisers. Bond and security given. John Lyon and Henry Lyon securities. October Term 1803 Orphans Court Charles County Maryland The petition of John Lyon administrator of Jane Lyon late of Charles County deceased was preferred and read stating that the Representatives of the said deceased are desirous that a division of the property of the said deceased should take place and that some of the other property is undividable from the nature of it and the number of Representatives and therefore praying the court to grant him an order for the sale of such property as well not divide to. Whereupon the court appointed Samuel Amery and Walter Dyson appraisers to reappraise and make distribution of said deceased Estate amongst her Representatives agreeably to law and ordered that said Administrator make sale of such of said deceased personal Estate as well not divide with equality amongst her Representatives upon his giving notice of the said sale according to law. I do hereby acknowledge that I have received of John Lyon Administrator of James Lyon deceased the within specified property amounting to fifty-four dollars and thirteen cents which is in part of James Lyon a minors portion of said Estate and received by me as Guardian to said James Lyon given under my hand this 10th of June 1805. Witness - Walter Dyson William Lyon Source: Charles County Register Of Wills 1807 - 1808 (Administration Accounts) # MSA CR 39,593 James Lyon to William Lyon Receipt February 1812 I do hereby acknowledge that I have received of my brother William Lyon who was appointed my Guardian my proportion and share of my mother Jane Dyson's (documents says Dyson's but is probably suppose to read Lyon's) Estate and do hereby acquit and exonerate him the said William Lyon as Guardian from any claim or claims I now have or may have against said Estate given under my hand this tenth day of February eighteen hundred and twelve - Signed and acknowledged in the presence of - James Lyon George Dyson Charles County Sct. February 10th 1812 came George Dyson before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for said County and made oath on the Holy Evangels of almighty God that he was present and saw James Lyon, whose signature appears above, sign and acknowledge the same.
