They were citations asking for James Lyon.......... "to show cause why he does not make a settlement of said minors estate agreeably to law". All five children were mentioned in separate accounts and going from Elizabeth Lyon to Henry Lyon to John Lyon to Thomas Lyon and ending with Delia Lyon. Finally in the Orphans Court Proceedings April Term 1821 there was an account that read............ "James Lyon's Children Inventory of property received by their Guardian. A list of property and cash paid by Charles Moran administrator of the Estate of John Moran deceased unto James Lyon Guardian for his children heirs to part of the said deceased Estate" - To 1 Negro boy Thomas @ $75.00 To sundry articles in cash $77.36 The whole amount $152.36 Later, in the Orphans Court Proceeding October Term 1823 there was receipts from John M. Lyon, Mary E. Lyon and Henry M. Lyon that read ......... "John M. Lyon Receipt to his Guardian Received October 13th 1823 of James Lyon Guardian for me all claims against him - Test. Mary E. Lyon John M. Lyon" "Mary E. Lyon Receipt to her Guardian Received October 13th 1823 of James Lyon Guardian for me all claims against him - Test. Mary Lyon Mary Eliza Lyon" "Henry M. Lyon Receipt to his Guardian Received October 13th 1823 of James Lyon Guardian for me all claims against him - Test. Joseph T. E. Hickey Henry M. Lyon" Even later there was this petition made by James Lyon in the October Term of 1823. October Term 1823; The petition of James Lyon Guardian to his five children was preferred and read stating that he had been cited to the court to show cause why he did not pass an account that the property is only one hundred and fifty-three dollars and three of his xxands (?) had arrived of age that one of the other due is sickly and the amount of his property would not if a change were made compensate for the trouble of taking care of him one year and the property of the other was so small that it would be scarcely xxxxxxx (?) to pass a Guardian account and therefore praying the court to dismiss him by a special order of your Her nouns and to direct the Register not to burden him again with the expense and trouble of citations and attachments whereupon it was ordered by the court that the afore going petition be granted and that the Guardian be excused from making an annual settlement.
