The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Deed Between Lydia Canter and others and William Baker Recorded September 24th 1802 in Charles County, Maryland At the request of Lydia Canter and others the following Deed was recorded the 24th day of September Anno Domini 1802 - This indenture made this thirteenth day of July in the year eight hundred and two between William Baker of Prince Georges County and State of Maryland of the one part and Lydia Canter, Anna Canter, Henry Canter, Levin Canter and Horatio Canter, children and representatives of Leonard Canter deceased of the other part witness eth that the said William Baker for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and five pounds fifteen shillings current money of Maryland, to him in hand paid by the said representatives the receipt whereof the said William Baker doth hereby acknowledge and himself there with fully satisfied and paid, hath bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents doth bargain sell and convey to the said representatives their heirs executors administrators and assigns all that tract or parcel of land being part of a larger tract called "Farthings Discovery" lying in Charles County, beginning for the part now to be conveyed at a stone in a branch near the watercourse of said branch at the end of four hundred and seventy and a quarter perches on a line of the original tract called "Farthings Discovery" that runs north fifteen degrees nineteen minutes west from the beginning, then running up the branch binding with the main stream thereof, south seventy-four degrees west twenty-six perches then south seventy and one quarter degrees, west nineteen perches, then south seventy-three degrees, west twenty perches, then south thirty degrees west fourteen perches, then south seventy-nine degrees west fourteen perches, then south sixty-five degrees west sixteen perches, then south fifteen degrees east sixteen perches, then south sixty-two degrees west fourteen perches, then south eight degrees west twenty-eight perches then south five degrees west twelve perches, then south seventeen degrees west twenty perches then south seventy degrees west sixteen perches, then south thirty-nine degrees west twelve perches, then south eighty-nine degrees west twenty-six perches, then south sixty-seven degrees west ten perches, then north seventy-four degrees west twenty perches to intersect a line of the original tract that runs north twenty- two degrees fifty-one minutes east at the end of forty-three perches on the said line then reversing the said line south twenty-two degrees fifty-one minutes west forty-three perches, then north eighty-five degrees fifty-one minutes east forty perches, then south seventy-one degrees nine minutes east ninety perches, then south thirty-three degrees east three perches, then south eighty-three degrees twenty-four minutes east sixty-four perches, then north eighty-three degrees east thirty-five perches to the line of "Farthings Discovery" drawn north fifteen degrees nineteen minutes west from the beginning then running with the said line to the beginning of the part now sold containing and intended to be conveyed one hundred and forty-nine acres two rods and thirty-seven perches, the said quantity of land the aforesaid Lydia Canter, Anna Canter, Henry Canter, Levin Canter and Horatio Canter children and representatives of Leonard Canter deceased their heirs executors administrators and assigns To Have and To Hold to their only proper use and be hoof with the appurtenances thereunto belonging forever, and the said William Baker for himself and his heirs the aforesaid land will forever warrant and defend against all persons claiming under the late Nathaniel Freeman Greenfield, Susanna Wilkinson Baker or the said William Baker, In Testimony whereof the said William Baker hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal - Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of - William Baker {seal} William Baker Jr., G. Hanson At the foot of the afore going Deed is this written to wit, On the 30th day of July 1802 Doctor William Baker party to the within deed, came before us two of the magistrates for Prince Georges County and acknowledged the within instrument of writing to be his act and deed and the land therein conveyed to be the right title and Estate of the within named Lydia Canter, Anna Canter, Henry Canter, Levin Canter and Horatio Canter children and representatives of Leonard Canter deceased, their heirs and assigns forever according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the acts of Assembly in such cases made and provided -- Samuel Carr William Lyles Maryland Price Georges County, to wit, I do hereby certify that Samuel Carr and William Lyles gentlemen who appear to have taken the within acknowledgement and whose names are there to signed were at the time of the taking and signing, the same ever since have been and still are Justices of the Peace in and for the county aforesaid duty commissioned and sworn, and to all whose acts as such full faith and credit is and ought to be given as well in courts of Justice as there out --- In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed the seal of Prince Georges County Court this ninth day of September eighteen hundred and two - {seal of Prince Georges County} John R.
