The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Charles County, Maryland Land Records, Book Z No. 2 1744-1752 Hall of Records, Annapolis, MD LDS Film No. 0013754, item no. 3 pp. 81-82 At the request of Thomas Loveless this following Deed was recorded this Sixth day of January Anno Dom 1745: This Indenture made the Thirteenth Day of December anno Dom Seventeen Hundred & Forty & Five BETWEEN John Lawson of Prince Georges County in the Province of Maryland Gent of the one part and Thomas Loveless of Charles County in the Province afsd Planter of the other part WITNESSETH that the said John Lawson for and in Consideration of the sum of Thirty Five Pounds Sterling money of Great Brittain (sic) to him in Hand Paid before the Insealing and Delivery of this Presents the Receipt whereof the said John Lawson doth hereby acknowledge and here of [unintelligible] doth discharge and acquit the said Thomas Loveless his Heirs Executors and administrators and Every of them Hath given granted bargained sold and confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said Thomas Loveless for his Actual possession Noro/Nore/Now being his Heirs and Assigns forever all that Tract or Parcel of Land lying in Charles County called Batchellors (sic) Forrest Beginning at a Bounded White Oak standing on the North side of the main Fork of the Cabbin (sic) Branch near the Land of Mr. Thomas Gant & Running then North North East forty Eight perches then North East by North One Hundred and Twenty Perches then North West Sixty Six Perches then South Thirty Seven Degrees West One Hundred Ninety Six Perches then North forty Degrees West Sixty Perches thence South thirty Degrees West Seventy Perches then South East forty Eight Perches then to the beginning Containing One hundred Twenty five Acres of Land more or less together with all and singular the buildings appurtenances and advantages thereunto belonging to Have and to Hold the afds Parcel of Land and Premises with the appurtenances unto the said Thomas Loveless his heirs and assigns forever & to his and their only proper use and behoff and the said John Lawson for himself his Heirs Executors & Administrators Doth by these present Covenant Promise grant and agree to and with the said Thomas Loveless his Heirs and Assigns in manner and form following that is to say that he the said Thomas Loveless his heirs and assigns for ever hereafter shall and may Quietly and Peceably (sic) have hold Possess and Enjoy the afsd Parcel of Land and Premises with the appurtenances free and Clear and freely and Clearly Acquitted and Discharged from all Incumbrances (sic) whatsoever / the Rents which Shall henceforth grow Due to the Lord Proprietary Excepted / and that the said John Lawson his Heirs Executors & Administrators the afsd One hundred twentyfive Acres of Land and Premises with the appurtenances unto him the said Thomas Loveless his heirs and assigns forever shall and will by these presents forever Warrant & Defend against all Persons and Claims whatsoever. Lastly that the said John Lawson his heirs, executors & administrators shall and will anytime hereafter make Execute and Acknowledge any other Deed or writing for the more surer making over & Confirming the afsd one hundred twenty five Acres of Land and Premises with the Appurtenances unto the said Thomas Loveless his Heirs & Assigns such as by him or by the Person for the time being Claiming under him shall be Required. In witness whereof the said John Lawson hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day and year first above written. Signed and sealed by John Lawson Sealed and delivered in the presence of: Allen Davies, Young Panan On the back of the foregoing deed was thus endorsed: PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY on the Thirteenth Day of December, 1745 came John Lawson within mentioned & Eliza his wife and acknowledged the Land and Premises within mentioned to be the Right and Property of Thomas Loveless his Heirs and Assigns forever and the said Eliza being by us Privately Examined out of the hearing of her Husband did declare that she made the above Acknowledgement Willingly and freely and without being Induced thereto by fears or threats of or Illusage by her said husband thus Examined and Acknowledged the day and year above written.
