Of the Province of Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltimore &c. To all persons to whom these presents shall come greeting in our Lord God Everlasting. Know yee that we for and in consideration that John Wheeler of this province planter, hath due unto him Four hundred Acres of Land within this by assignment from Ralph CrouchGeirt (Vide Lib. 1660, folio 2) as appears upon record, and upon such conditions and terms are Expressed in our conditions of plantation of our Province of Maryland, under Page 401 Our greater Seal at Armes bearing dateLondon the Second day of July in the year of our Lord God 1649, and remaining upon record in our said province of Maryland, with such alterations as intherin is made by our declaration bearing date the 26th day of August Anno 1651 likewise remaining upon record in our said province of Maryland, Do hereby grant unto the said John Wheeler a parcell of Land called (Wheelers Choice (Wheelers Choice Vide Lib. 1662, fol. 165) lying on the East side of Piscataway River in Charles County between Nelling and Pamunkey, about a mile from the Exterior head Line of the Land laid out for Luke Gardner, beginning at a marked white oak the bounded Tree of John Ward, and running SouthWest from the said Oak for the length of Two hundred perches, to a marked Oak bounding on the West with a Line drawn North West from the end of the former Line for the length on Three hundred and twenty perches, to a marked Oak, on the North North East from the end of the said North West Line untill it intersect a parralell Line drawn from the said bounded white Oak of John Wards, on the East with the said parralell Line, and the Land of John Ward, on the North with the said North West Line Containing and now laid out for Four hundred Acres more or less, Together with all rights profitts and benefits thereunto belonging (Royall Mines Excepted) To have and to hold the same unto him the said John Wheeler his heirs and assigns forever, To be holden of us and our heirs as of our Mannor of ( ? ) in free and (unclear) Soccage by fealty only for all manner of Services Yeilding and paying therefore yearly unto us and our heirs at our receipt at Saint Maries at the two most usuall feasts in the Year, viz: at the feast of the annunciation of the blessed Virgin Mary, and at the feast of Saint Michael the Archangell, by even and equall portions the rent of Eight Shillings Sterling in Silver or Gold, or the full value there of in such commodities as we and our heirs, or such officer or officers appointed by us or our heirs from time to time to Collect and receive the same shall accept in discharge thereof at the choice of us and our heirs, or such officer or officers as aforesaid. Given at Saint Maries under our great Seal of our said Province of Maryland this tenth day of July in the 32nd year of our dominion over our said province of Maryland Anna Domi 1663.
