The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Abraham Bowie ~ Will In the name of God Amen, I Abraham Bowie or Charles County, in the State of Maryland being sick and weak in body but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding considering the certainty of death and the uncertainty of the time thereof and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs and thereby be the better prepared to leave this world when it shall please God to call me hence do therefore make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following: that is to say first and principally commit my soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter named and after my debts and funeral charges are paid I devise and bequeath as follows: Item- I give to Elizabeth Bowie my granddaughter a lot that had a house on it lying between a ditch and the school lot, this granddaughter a daughter of John A. Bowie. Item- I give unto Jane Bowie my granddaughter, daughter of Zachariah Bowie, one third of the property I bought of Zachariah Bowie which are recorded in the Land Office , the other two thirds to the other children. I appoint Zachariah Bowie agent for them till his last child comes of age. Item- I give and bequeath unto John A. Bowie and Zachariah Bowie and Uriah Bowie a part of two tracts of land by the name of Ashbrooks Rest and Senas Delight to be equally divided into three lots, the oldest first choice and so on as they came into the world. Item- I give and bequeath unto Sarah Ann Johnson and Mary Ann Ratliff and Catherine Goley whatever money or personal property I am possessed with to equally divide among the three women and lastly I do hereby appoint the herein named John A. Bowie to be my Sole Executor of this my last will and testament revoking and annulling all forms of wills by me made ratifying and confirming that once none other to be my last will and testament . In testimony whereof I have here unto set my hand and affixed my seal this tenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty six.
