Charles County Will 40 f. 492 In the name of God Amen I Jane Clements of Charles County in the Province of Maryland being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and memory, considering the Certainty of Death & the uncertainty of the times thereof and being Desirous to settle my worldly affairs & thereby be the better prepared to leave this World when it shall please God to call me home I therefore make and publish this my Last Will and Testament, in manner and form following that is to say - First & principally I Commit my Soul into the hand of Almighty God & my body to the Earth, to be Decently buried at the discretion of my Executors herein after named, & after my Debts are paid, I Will and bequeath as follows. - Item- I give & bequeath to my Nephew Thos. Dyar one negro Girl Called Bab--- Item- I give & bequeath to, Nephew Jacob Clements four Silver Table Spoons. Item- I give & bequeath to my Niece Mary Clements one Caster Stand, one Damask Table Cloath, two Wine Decanters & six tea spoons-- Item I give & bequeath unto my beloved Brother Walter Clements one Negro woman Called Pegg, one negro boy called Ned, one feather Bed, bolster, two pillows one Quilt & Cloth Counterpain Item I give & bequeath to my beloved Sisters, Clare Sanders, Martha Dyar & my Niece Ann Dyar my wearing apparrel--- Item I give & bequeath to, my niece Helen Clements my Chest with Draws to be Delivered her when she arrives at the age of sixteen years, by my Executors herein after Mentioned. Item Item I give & bequeath to my beloved Brother Chas. Clemens one Silver Table Spoon-- Item- I give & bequeath to my Nephew Josph. Clements one Silver Table Spoon.--- Item- I give and bequeath to the poor of Portobacco Parish Seven Barrells of Indian Corn to be Equally Distributed as my Exs shall think fit. Item- I give and bequeath all the rest and residue of my Estate to be Equally Divided among my Brothers Frans. Clements John Clements & my Sisters Clare Sanders & Martha Dyar.-- And Lastly- I do hereby Constitute & appoint, my beloved Brother Walter Clements & John Sanders to be sole Executers of this my Last Will and Testamont, revoking and annulling all former Wills by me heretofore made, ratifying & Confirming this & none other to be my Last Will and Testamont and my Executor Walter, Clements to find my brother Charles Clements Sufficient Wearing Apparel for the Space of Five Years_ In Testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my han & affixed my Seal this twenty third day of September anno Dom One thousand Seven hundred and Seventy five- Jane Clement (seal) Signed, Sealed, published and declared by Jane Clements the above Testator, as & for her last Will & Testament, in the presence of us, who at her request & in her presence have Subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto----- Danl McPherson FW John Mannery Mark Martha (her mark) Green Annex'd to the aforegoing Will was thus (Wittess Vezt) -- Charles County (xxx.) 14th Oct. 1775. Then came Danl McPherson, John Mannery, and Martha Green the three Subscribing Witnesses to the foregoing last Will and Testament of Jane Clements late of said County (deed) and severally made Oath on the holy Evangels of Almighty God that they did see the Testator therein named Sign and Seal this Will and that they heard her publish pronounce and declare the same to be her last Will and Testament and that at the time of her so doing she was to the best of their apprehensions of sound Disposing mind Memory and understanding and that respectively Subscribed as Witnessses to this Will in the Pfence of the Testatric and at her request and in the Pfence of each other.
