Written November 15, 1790 in Charles County, Maryland In the name of God Amen I George Dyson Sen. of Charles County in the state of Maryland being infirm of body but in perfect and sound memory thanks be to God for it and calling to mind the uncertainty of this life and knowing that it appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following - First of all, I recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it me hoping through the merits of my blessed Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ to receive the same again at the general resurrection and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent form according to the discretion of my Executor hereafter named. Secondly, I give and bequeath to my beloved son Samuel Dyson and his heirs forever seventy-five acres of land lying in Montgomery County it being part of a parcel of land I purchased of Daniel Ocers for one hundred and fifty acres out of a tract of land called Non Eaton the land be it laid off where his dwelling house now is I likewise bequeath to the said Samuel Dyson a Negro woman named Jen with her future increase. Thirdly, I give and bequeath to my beloved son Basil Dyson and his heirs forever the remaining part of the parcel of land above mentioned to be laid off in the upper part of the parcel joining William Ocers also I bequeath to the said Basil Dyson one Negro woman named Sarah and her future increase the said Basil now having the said Negro in possession. Fourthly, I give and bequeath to my beloved son Roswell Dyson and his heirs one Negro boy named Jeffery and one Negro girl named Terry with her increase the said Roswell now having both the said Negroes in possession. Fifthly, I give and bequeath to my beloved son Gerard Dyson and his heirs forever all that part of a tract of land which I purchased of John Davis it being part of a tract of land Davis's Hazard laid off for sixty-three acres also ten acres of land to be laid of contiguous thereto out of a tract of land called Swann Hill, I likewise bequeath to the said Gerard Dyson one Negro girl named Esther with her increase forever. Sixthly, I give and bequeath to my beloved son George Dyson and his heirs forever all the remaining part of that tract of land called Swann Hill that I have a right to not before disposing of also fifty acres of a tract of land called Nevetts Desire also fifteen acres of a tract of land called Concourse also I bequeath to the said George Dyson one Negro man named Charles and one Negro girl named Kate with her increase. Seventhly, I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Lydia Dyson one Negro woman named Bess also her children named Mary and Bille with all future increase. I likewise will that the said Lydia Dyson live on my dwelling Plantation with my son George Dyson during her single life. I likewise will my daughter Sarah Dyson may be in care of my son George and my daughter Lydia during her life and I will my Negro man named Peter be in the said George's and Lydia's possession for the said Sarah Dyson's maintenance during the said Sarah's life and after the decease of the said Sarah the said Negro Peter be equally divided between the said George and Lydia and their heirs. Eighthly, I will that all my Estate not already disposed of be equally divided between my son George Dyson and my daughter Lydia (a black horse and one side saddle and hereto accepted ) which horse saddle and bridle I give to my daughter Lydia Dyson and her heirs. Lastly I nominate my beloved son George Dyson Executor of this my Last Will and Testament utterly revoking any other former will or wills by me made and done acknowledging this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fifteenth day November one thousand seven hundred and ninety. Signed sealed and delivered in presence of - George Dyson {seal} Sam Turner 33 - James Lyon - Charles Garner - On the back of the foregoing Will it is this written to wit - Charles County Sct. 24th January 1791 then came George Dyson Jun. Executor of George Dyson Sen. and made oath on the Holy Evangels of almighty God that the written instrument of writing is the true and whole Last Will and Testament of the said deceased that hath come to his hands or possession and that he does not know of any other - Certified by John Muschett Reg. Of Wills Charles County Sct. 24th January 1791 then came Samuel Turner and Charles Garner two of the subscribing witnesses to the within Last Will and Testament of George Dyson Sen. late of Charles County deceased and severally made oath on the Holy Evangels of almighty God that they did see the Testator therein named sign and seal this Will that they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his Last Will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding and that together with James Lyon the other subscribing witness respectively subscribed their names as witnesses to this Will in the presence and at the request of the Testator and in the presence of each other.
