The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Will of Michael Lyon Written 1805 in Charles County, Maryland In the name of God I Michael Lyon of Charles County in the state of Maryland being weak and infirm with age but of sound mind memory and understanding thanks be to God for the same and calling to mind the uncertainty of this transitory life and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following. Imprimis I recommend my soul into the hands of God who gave it to me hoping through the merits and mediation of my blessed Savior and redeemer Jesus Christ to receive the same again at the general resurrection and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian form according to the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named. My Will and desire is that all my just debts be paid out of my estate and after that is done I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rachel one cow and calf or one with calf to her and her heirs forever. Item; I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Chloe all the remaining part of my Estate to her use during her natural life and after her decease I give and bequeath unto my son William and all the surviving children which I have had by my wife Chloe as aforesaid an equal dividend in my Estate aforesaid to them and their heirs forever. Lastly, I hereby nominate constitute appoint and ordain my wife Chloe Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament hereby utterly revoking disannulling and disallowing every former and other Will or Wills by me made and acknowledging this and only this to be my Last Will and Testament -- In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this day of one thousand eight hundred and five. March 19th 1811 Then came James Waters Jun. And William Turner the two subscribing witnesses to the within Last Will and Testament of Michael Lyon late of Charles County deceased and made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that they did see the Testator therein named sign and seal this Will and that they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his Last Will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding and that they respectively subscribed their names as witnesses to this Will in the presence and at the request of the Testator and in the presence of each other – Test: Humphrey Barnes Reg.
