The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Rhody Bowie Will In the name of God Amen, I Rhoda Bowie of Charles County in the Stateof Maryland being sick and weak in body but of a sound and disposingmind and memory taking into consideration the uncertainty of life andthe certainty of death knowing that it is appointed all men once to die and being desirous of settling my worldly affairs before I go hence; domake and ordain this my last will and testament in the manner and form following- First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me and my body to the earth to be decently buried in a decent and Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named looking for the Resurrection from the dead and hoping for Salvation through the merits of Jesus Christ my Savior and Redeemer and as to what worldly goods it hath pleased God to bless my labors with I dispose of in thee following manner~ Item I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Ann Bowie the whole of my estate that I am now possessed with of every sort and kind whatsoever to be by her disposed of at her death in any way she may think proper and lastly I constitute and appoint my loving wife Ann Bowie Sole Executrix of this my last willand testament in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal this Sixth day of October Eighteen Hundred and Eight. Signed Thos Price, William (his X mark) Flory, Sarah D.(Her X mark)Flory On the back of the aforegoing will is thus written to wit: Charles County September 2, 1814, then came Ann Bowie Executrix of Rhody Bowie late of Charles County deceased and made an oath on the Holy Evangel of Almighty God that the aforegoing instrument of writing is the true and whole last will and testament of said deceased that hath come to her hand or possession and that she doth not know of any other. Florry the three Subscribing witnesses to the written last will and testament of Rhody Bowie late of Charles County deceased and made oath on the Holy Evangel of Almighty God that they did see the Testator therein named Sign and Seal the will and that they heard him publish,pronounce and declare the same to be his last will and testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehensions of Sound and Disposing mind, memory and understanding and that they respectively Subscribed their names as witnesses to this will in the presence and at the request of the Testator and in the presence of each other.
