WILL OF ROBERT THOMPSON In the name of God Amen, I Robert Thompson being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make this my last will and testament in form and manner following... FIRST I give and bequeath unto my son Charles Thompson all that part or parcel of land which I purchased of John Baptist Thompson, being part of a tract of land called Scotland, bounded and running agreable to the bounds and courses which appears at large in a deed which said John Baptist Thompson gave me of the same... all the said land, after the death of my wife Elizabeth, (except what may be included by a certain marsh hereinafter more partially described) to him and his heirs and assigns forever... Also I give and bequeath unto my son Bennet Thompson his heirs and assigns forever, all the tract of land whereon I now live, which was conveyed to me by George Thompson and William Thompson, being part of a tract of land called Rocky Point, and called in their deed of conveyance the Brothers Lot together with all right title interest or claim which said deed hath invested me with to any land or lands whatever the said land to include the whole of a certain marsh or branch lying on the north side thereof up to the road that leads to Newtown, and it is my meaning that he my said son Bennet his heirs may run or fence from the beginning boundary of the land of Scotland, standing at the side of a branch of a creek called St. Matthias Creek, along the edge of said marsh or branch sons to include of same entirely as aforesaid... Also I give and bequeath unto my son James Thompson the sum of one hundred pounds current money of Maryland to be raised and levied out of my personal estate, after the death of my wife Elizabeth.... Also I give and bequeath unto my son Ignatius Thompson the sum of five shillings current money... I give and bequeath unto my daughter Susanna Lee the sum of five shillings current money... I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Lee the sum of five shillings current money... I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Greenwell the sum of five shillings current money... I give and bequeath unto my daughter Eleanor Hall's son William Nottingham, the sum of ten pounds current money... I give and bequeath unto my grandson Hugh Hopewell the sum of ten pounds current money, the same together with the aforesaid bequest of ten pounds to William Nottingham to be raised and levied out of my personal estate... Lastly I give and bequeath unto my aforesaid son Bennet Thompson, whom I constitute and appoint sole executor of this my last will and testament, all the remaining part of my estate whatsoever, after the decease of my wife Elizabeth, and its my will and meaning that she shall possess and enjoy the whole of my estate both real and personal during her natural life, in such manner as to make no waste thereof further than necessary for a suficient support and maintainance, and after her decease to be distributed as above bequeathed, and so that my negro man Harry may be at liberty to choose his master at a moderate and reasonable value... And I do hereby utterly revoke and annul all other will or wills or bequests made by me in any former will, acknowledging this and no other to be my last will and testament... In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of September in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and four...
