Co., AK #11, p. 427-428] In the name of God Amen, I Mary Wright of Charles County and State of Maryland, being sick and weak of body but of sound and disposing mind memory and judgement, thanks to Almighty God for the same, knowing the uncertainty of this life, and that it is appointed for all men once to doe, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in the following manner, making null and void all other wills heretofore by me made, first and principally I recommend my Soul into the heard of almighty God that gave it and my body to the earth, to be buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my Executrix here after named, and as to what worldly Estate it hath pleased God to bless me with. I Give and dispose of as follows. Imprimis, my will and desire is that all my just debts be paid. Item, I Give and Bequeath to my three Daughters Lydia Wright, Elizabeth Wright and Margaret Robins Wright, equally among them the whole of Estate after my debts area paid. And lastly I constitute and appoint my daughter Lydia Wright Executrix of this my last will and Testament, in Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affix my seal this twenty fourth day of May Seventeen Hundred and ninety seven Signed sealed and acknowledged Mary Wright {SEAL} (her mark) In the presence of us Joseph Elgin Hezekiah Elgin Joseph Price On the back of the foregoing will it is thus written, to wit, Charles County, 20th November 1797. Then came Lydia Wright Executrix of Mary Wright, late of Charles County, deceased and made oath on the Holy Evangels of almighty God that the within Instrument of writing is the true and whole last will and Testament of said deceased that have come to her hands on possession and that she doth not know of any other. Certified by Humphrey Barnes, Regr. of Wills Charles County, 20th November 1797. Then came Joseph Elgin and Hezekiah Elgin two of the subscribing witnesses to the within last will and testament of Mary Wright late of Charles County, deceased and severally made oath on the holy Evangels of Almighty God that they did see the Testatrix therein named sign and seal this will. That they heard her publish pronounce and declare the same to be her last will and Testament that at the time of her so doing she was to the best of her apprehensions of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding ant that they with Joseph Price the other subscribing witness respectively subscribed their names as witnesses to this will in the presence and at the request of the Testatrix and in the presence of each other.
