Most of the surnames researched are associated with this family either by marriage or land ownership. Other surnames are recorded because of the listing of heirs if the ancestor died intestate. William Standiford of Dorcester County MDLW&P 1748-1749, FHC Film 0013092, page 21 Thomas Sumall (?) and Anne Dorcester County, MD Joseph Hopkins and Elizabeth John Peeleston and Dorothy Mary Shimer Petitioners for a certain tract of land laid out for them called “Andrew’s Fortune” in Dorchester County, part of 500 acres 3 Mary 1738. Mary Shimer by the name of Mary Thomas, intermarried with Tristram Thomas, assigned rights, etc. MD LW&P 1737-1744, FHC Film 0013089, page 47. Jonathon Bestpatch of Dorcester County Jonathon Bestpatch left a last will and testament that the proceeds from sales of land go to pay debts, balance to go to three daughters, Leah, Molly and Nancy. The executors have died without ……..the trust placed in them and that Leah hath intermarried with Zebulon Beard, the petitioner, and Molly hath intermarried with Joseph Yates and Nancy hath intermarried with William Craft/Croft. Molly Yates has died, leaving Henry Yates, her only child and heir-at-law. The petitioner prays that patent may issue for resurvey to the said Leah Beard, Henry Yates and Nancy Craft/Croft. Petition of John Bestpatch of Dorcester County showeth that Jonathon Bestpatch had in his lifetime devised land to his wife, Margaret and her heirs and Margaret has since intermarried with Levin Breewood and they sold and assigned land to petitioner, John Bestpatch. MDLW&P, 1801-1808, FHC Film 0013131, page 583. Luke Hurley, son of Roger Hurley of Dorcester County Petitioners Trephaina Brambley/Bramble, Sarah Allon/Cotton, Luke Robertson, Rachel Robertson, Shadrach Robertson, Shadrach Hurley of Dorcester County, show that Roger Hurley on 10 August 1716 obtained a special warrant to survey 30 acres, returned a certificate by name of “The End of All Strife” lying in Dorcester County containing 30 acres. Roger Hurley died and by will, left land to son Mathew Hurley, who left land to his son, Luke Hurley.
