Born July 2,1866 in Delmar,DE the son of William D and Margaret Ann Hearn Hastings.He moved to the Horn's Point in the Neck district of Dorchester Co. when he was 7. He had engaged in the farming and lumber business his entire life. A devout Christain.He was a member of the Milton Methodist Church for serval years.In prior years he had been a member of the Beckwith Methodist Church of Cornersville. He married Miss Ethel Asplen on September 20,1910,daughter of William C and Mary Jane Asplen of Woolford. Survived by his wife .An adopted daughter,Margaret Virgina Hastings who died in Harrisonburg Virgina in 1938. One sister Mrs Rosa Stevens of Delmar-DE. Four brothers,James A.of Cambridge,Durand H. of Arlington Va.J Whitefield of Mt.Clemens,Mich.and Arthur R Hastings of Emmons,PA. Funerals services at LeCompte Funeral Home.Rev.H.G Holdway officiating. Interment in Dorchester MemorialPark.
