All Rights Reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm ********************************************************* WILL OF HUGH HANDLEY In the name of God Amen, the 29th day of August in the year of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred twenty six – I Hugh Handley of Dorchester County in the province of Maryland – being sick and weak in body but of good and perfect memory/thanks be to Almighty God and calling to mind the uncertainty of this transitory life and that all flesh must yield unto death when it shall please God - ______ do make, constitute and ordain this my last will and testament. In manner and form following revoking and annulling by these presents all and every Testament and Testaments, Will and Wills Heretofore by me made and declared either by word or writing and this to be taken only for my Last Will and Testament and first being penitent and sorry from the bottom of my heart for my sins past, most heartily desiring forgiveness for the same. I give and commit my soul unto Almighty God, my Savior and Redeemer in whom and by the merrits of whom I trust and believe assuredly to be saved and to have full remission and pardon of all my sins and that my soul with my body at the General Day of Resurrection shall rise again with joy to possess and inherit the kingdom prepared for his Elect and Chosen. And my body to be buryed in such place and manner as it shall please my Executor hereafter named to appoint and for the selling my Temporall Estate and such Goods Chattles and Debts as it hath pleased God far above my deserts to bestow upon me. I do order give and dispose the same in manner and form following – That is to say – First, I will that all those Debts and Duties as I owe in Right or Conscience to any manner of person or persons Whatsoever shall be well and _____contented and paid within convenient time after my decease by my Executors hereafter named Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son Hugh Hanley the plantation whereon I now dwell called Hanley’s Regulation containing about three hundred and sixty acres to him and his heirs for Ever. Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved son Marmaduke Hanley Two tracts of land one called Hanleys Adventure containing about eighty eight acres and the other called Levins Chance laid out for twenty five acres both lying in Dorchester County in the province of Maryland to him and his heirs for Ever. Item I give and bequeath unto my well beloved daughter Elizabeth Hanley a parcell or tract of land called Point Lookout laid out for forty acres more or less lying in the Northwest fork of Nanticoke River in the County and province aforesaid – to her and her heirs for Ever. Item My will is that all my personall Estate remaining (after my dear wife hath sequestrated her part) shall be equally divided amongst my three children above mentioned Hugh, Marmaduke and Elizabeth Hanley. Lastly, I constitute appoint and ordain my dear and well beloved wife Elinor Hanley and my sons Hugh and Marmaduke Hanley as Executors of this my Last Will and Testament desiring their concordance and agreement in everything relating to this my Last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year above mentioned.
