A formatted version can be Viewed at http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/dorchester/wills/hayward-t.pdf Thomas Hayward (d1772) Will Dorchester County MD Maryland Hall of Records 38:890 (or 791) (Microfilm SR4432-2) Written 18 March 1772 Proved 25 April 1772 In the name of God amen I Thomas Hayward of Dorchester County in the province of Maryland being sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to god therefore calling to mind that it is appointed for all men once to die do make ordain and appoint this to be my last Will and Testament and do by these presents revoke and Disannul and make void all other former Will and Wills by me heretofore maid and do allow and constitute this and no other to be my last Will and Testament I give and bequeath my soul to god who gave it me hopeing through the merits of Jesus Christ to obtain Remission of all my sins and secondly I commit my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be decently buried at the discresion of my Executors hereafter Item I give to my son Levin Hayward all that tract of Land called Marchants Adventure on which I now live. Item I give to my son Thomas Hayward all that tract of Land called Johns Choyce likewise sixty acres of Haywards Addission to the aforesaid Thomas and his mail aires and for want of such aires then to go to my son William Hayward Item I give to my son Alen Hayward fifty acres of Land called Beaver Neck and likewise forty four acres of Land called Hawards neglect to the said Alen. Item I give to my two youngest sons William and Harrey one hundred acars of Land called Haywards Addisson to the said William and Harrey Hayward and to my son Allen Hayward I leave my still Item I give to my three daughters Elizabeth Sarah and Mary to each of them one heffer and one featherbed Item I do leave my beloved wife Sarah Hayward all my moveable Estate after all my debts being paid during her Widowhood then to be equally devided I also leave my Wife Sarah and son Thomas Executors of this my last Will and Testament as Witness my hand and seal this 18{th} day of March one thousand seven hundred and seventy two signed sealed published pronounced and delivered by the said Thomas Hayward as his last Will and Testament in the presents us the Subscribers Thomas (his mark) Hayward (Seal) John (his mark) Lane John Dawson John (his mark) Keys At the foot of the foregoing Will was thus written Viz On the 25{th} day of April Anno Domini 1772 Sarah Hayward the appointed Executrix the other being underage made oath on the holy Evangils of almighty God that the foregoing instrument of Writing is the true and last Will & Testament of Thomas Hayward late of Dorchester County deceased that hath come to her hands or possession and that she does not know nor ever heard of any other Will made since by the said Testator. Certified p Jn{o} Goldsborough D{y} Com{y} of Dorchester County On the 25{th} day of April Anno Domini 1772 John Lane and John Hays two of the Subscribing Witnesses to the aforegoing Will being duly & Solemnly sworn on the holy Evangils of almighty God deposed & said that they saw the Testator Thomas Hayward sign the foregoing Will and heard him publish & declare the same to be his last Will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he to the best of their apprehension of sound & disposing mind and memory and that they together with John Dawson the other subscribing Witness to the foregoing Will, subscribed their respective names as Witnesses thereto in the presence of the Testator at his request.
