Will Abstract of Richard Webster (1772) In the name of God amen. The 29th day of November 1772. I Richard Webster Gent. of Dorchester County in the Province of Maryland being very weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God, therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appropriate for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and for my body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty Power of God & as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form, Imprimis I give and bequeath to my son John Webster fifty acres of Land called Range were he now lives, Imprimis I give and bequeath to my son Solomon Webster the remainder of my Land, Imprimis I gave to my daughter Mary Hutson ten shilling and no more, Itim I have to my daughter Rachel Dobson ten shillings and no more, Itim I give to my daughter Ann Land one shilling sterling and no more, Itim I gave to my daughter Elizabeth Strawhorn one shilling sterling and no more, Itim I give to my daughter Nomey Hall one shilling sterling and no more, Itim I gave to my daughter Rebecca Webster one shilling and no more, Itim I gave to my daughter Leah Webster one shilling sterling and no more, Itim I gave to my daughter Elizabeth Webster one shilling sterling and no more, Imprimis I gave and bequeath to my son Richard Webster twenty pounds to be paid by sons John Webster and my son Solomon Webster, Itim I gave to Richard one Cow and calf after his mothers deceased, Itim I gave to my son Solomon Webster all the remainder part of my Estate after my deats is paid And my Will is that my son Solomon Webster shall be my only and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke & disannul all and every other former Testament Wills or Legacies requests and Executors by me in any ways before this time named Willed and bequeathed ratifying & confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and Seal this day and year above written Richard Webster (signed with his mark) Signed Sealed published and declared by the said last Will and Testament in the presents of us Abraham Collens Edward Russum John Andrew [Note at the bottom:] On the back of the aforegoing Will was this written ? Dorchester County So(?). On thi 4th day of January Anno Domini 1773 Solomon Webster the appointed Executor made oath on the holy Evangils of almighty God that the aforegoing Instrument of writing is the true and only Will and Testament of Richard Webster late of Dorchester County deceased that hath come to his hands or possession and that he does not know or ever hear of any other made since by the said Testator, Certified by John Goldsborough, Dor County Dorchester County So! On the 4th day of January Anno Domini 1773 Abraham Collins one of the subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing Will being duly and solemnly Sworn on the holy Evangils of almighty God deposed and said that he saw the Testator Richard Webster sign the aforegoing Will and heard him publish and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament that at the time of his do doing he was to the best of his apprehension of sound and disposing mind and memory in that he together with Edward Russum and John Andrew the other subscribing witnesses to the aforegoing Will subscribed their respective names as Witnesses thereto in the presence of the Testator and at his request, Certified by John Goldsborough, Dorch County Dorchester County So! I the subscriber being the widow and relict(?) of Richard Webster late of the County aforesaid deceased do hereby certify that I am not satisfied and contented with the bequests in the last Will and Testament of the said deceased dated the 29th November 1772 and do make choice of one third part of his real and personal Estate to which I am endowable. Witness my hand this 7 day of February Anno Domini 1773, Ann Webster (signed with her mark) To John Goldsborough, Dor County On the 8th day of February Anno Domini 1773 John Andrew made oath on the holy Evangils of almighty God that he saw Ann Webster widow of Richard Webster of Dorchester County deceased sign the within writing on the 7th day of February 1773 and that she is not able to ride to the Deputy Commissarys of the said county, Certified by John Goldsborough, Dorch County
