(Hoover) Mansfield Johan Adam Hoover arrived at the port of Philadelphia from Rotterdam, on the ship "Sally", along with three brother's; John Henry, John Philip , John Nicholas Hoover and their sister Maria Elizabeth. Taking the Oath of Allegiance on October 5, 1767. Shortly, after their arrival in PA, they are found living at Moncacey Manor in Frederick County. On September 24, 1769, Johann Henrich, John Philip and Johann Nicholas Huber/Hoover took Communion at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church (now the Grace Lutheran Church) near Woodsboro, three miles north of Walkersville. Adam Huber/Hoover, appears in the Frederick German Reformed Church records in 1768, when he sponsored Catherine Reinhard daughter of Thomas Reinhard and his wife Eva Elizabeth (Wishaar) Whitehair. Thomas Reinhard/Rinehart settled in Aurour, WV, in 1802. Their son Rev. John Rinehart married Susan Easterday. Susan was the daughter of Martin and Barbara (Bower) Easterday. In 1805, Rev. John Rinehart settled in Jefferson County, with the Bower, and Easterday families from Frederick County, MD. Adam Hoover, married Elizabeth (Jaegerin) on June 6, 1773, at the Moncacey Church. Elizabeth was the daughter of Johann Wilhelm Jaeger. The Jaeger (Yeager) family lived in the New Market area of Frederick County. They were members of the Moravian and Mennonite Church. Elizabeth Marie Hoover, appears in the Glade Church records as early as August 27, 1775, when she took communion. The Reformed Church "an der Glat", on the Glade, was located on 5 acres north of Walkersville. The church records states that the settlers in Pequea Valley of Lancaster County, PA, between 1709, and 1712, were the Baughman, Funk, Huber/Hoover, Stouffer, Boyer, Hostable, Darby, Miller, Morgan, Kauffman, and others are all found in Frederick County at an early period. The Glade Church begin in 1757. The Church Book begin in 1769. John Adam Hoover, was born July, 8, 1745, in Trippstadt. It is believed Elizabeth (Jaeger) was born ca. 1751, in MD. Adam Hoover's widow Elizabeth Hoover appears on the 1790 Frederick County Census, along with 3 sons and 3 daughters on page 160, living near Mary Hoover, the widow of John Nicholas Hoover. In 1791, it is noted in the Glade Lutheran Church record that Elizabeth is a widow. In Vol. II., of the First German Reformed Church Index to Death records state that Elizabeth Hoover died at age 45, on September 19, 1796. There are no estate or probate records in Frederick County, MD, for John Adam or Elizabeth Hoover. There were six children living in Elizabeth Hoover household on the 1790 Census . The following list of children are from the Lutheran and German Reformed Records in Frederickstown, Middletown and the Glade Reformed church records, north of Walkersville. There is one child listed in the St. Peter's Church, near Woodsboro; identified as the daughter of Adam Hoover in the church record. 1. Adam Hoover, born 1774, Frederick County, MD. He married Catherine. Their son Frederick William, was born August 12, 1806, in Frederick County, MD. Vol. II. German Reformed Church. LDS # 0013935. This may be the Adam Hoover who married Catherine Weber/Weaver May 3, 1794. 2. Johnnes (John) Hoover, born 1776/77 Frederick County, MD m. Ann Riddle, September 24, 1802. Frederick County. 3. Catherine Maria Hoover, b. date unknown. She is unmarried in 1791, when she sponsored a child in the St., Peter's Church, ( Woodsboro) the record states she is the daughter of Adam Hoover. Catherine Maria Hoover sponsored a second child at the Glade Reformed Church in 1795. 4. Margaret Hoover, b. ca. 1778, m. John Kramer, April 15, 1797. 5. Philip Hoover, b. 1779, confirmation April 6, 1798, Vol. 6, MD Ger., Reformed. 6. Elizabeth Hoover, b. ca, 1780, unmarried in 1798, when she sponsors Elizabeth Kramer, daughter of John and Margaret Kramer. There are three Elizabeth Huber/Hoover who are under age in 1798, ages 8, 13, and 17, in the Glade Church records sponsored by John Kramer . Elizabeth who was unmarried in 1798. She maybe the Elizabeth who married George Nunemaker, on April 28, 1800. 7. Henrich Hoover, b. August 23, 1785, bapt., December 26, 1785, recorded in the Middletown, Lutheran Church Records.
