At the request of John A. Peters, the following Deed was recorded Dec 13th, 
1872.

This Deed made this fourth day of October in the year 1872 by Lucinda Peters 
and Josephine Peters of Frederick County in the State of Maryland.  Witnessed 
that in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars they have bargained sold and 
granted unto John A. Peters all that tract of land with improvements thereon 
situated and lying at the foot of the Mountain on the road leading from Mt St 
Mary’s College to and past Taylor’s Tannery and containing one half acre of 
land more or less and contained within the following meters and courses.  
Beginning for the same on a flat rock at the end of two perches on the first 
line of Nathaniel Peddicord’s Lot and running with the first line 15 degrees 
West 9 perches to a planted stone (second) South 8 degrees West 8 perches to a 
planted stone (3rd) North 7 ˝ degrees East 7 perches to a planted stone (4th) 
75 ˝ degrees East 12 perches to the beginning, to have and, to hold the same 
subject to the reservation that the said Lucinda Peters shall hold and retain 
during her natural life of full control and possession of the said described 
premises.   Witness our hands and seals this fourth day of October in the year 
eighteen hundred and seventy two.

State of Maryland, Frederick County to wit:

I hereby certify that on this 4th day of October 1872 before the subscriber a 
Justice of the Peace of the said State in and for the County aforesaid 
personally appeared Lucinda Peters and Josephine Peters and did each 
acknowledge the aforegoing deed to be their respective act.
