Mortimer Anderson of Frederick Count, Maryland, first part, and Samuel Stephens, John M. Rice, Jesse W. Rice, Nathan Stephens, John T. Waltz, John T. Ward and Oliver L. Falconer of same of the other part. Whereas by a decree of the Circuit Court of Frederick County setting as a Court of Equity, bearing date on 3rd day of June 1852, the above named H. Mortimer Anderson was appointed thrustee and authorized and empowered to sell and dispose of the real estate of Thomas Anderson, dec'd, of said County for the purpose mentioned in the said decree; that said H. Mortimer Anderson, did on the 10th of July 1852 sell and dispose of to party of second part, trustees, in Trust for the uses and purposes hereinafter mentioned, all that part or tract of land called "New Market Plains" lying and being in the county aforesaid and for the sum of $100 current money . . . paid by parties of second part . . . beginning tract of land called "Hemitage Lot" . . . on a line of the school house lot . . ." Hermitage Lot" . . . containing 1 acre of land more or less, being a part called "New Market Plains" and being same land conveyed to said Thomas Anderson, dec'd, by John Pancoast by deed bearing date 22 October 1821 and referenced J.S. 14, foilios 341, Frederick County . . . to have and hold the said part of a tract of land above described unto second part . . . that they shall errect and build or cause to be errected and built thereon, a house or place of worship for the use of the colored members of the Methodist Episcopal Church in the U.S.A. according to the rules and discipline which from time to time may be agreed upon and adopted y the ministers and preachers of the said church . . .
