Thereas the said Ezra Brandenburg by his two notes in hand duly executed earing date 5th April 1856 and owe at 12 months after date and the other two years after date and each for the sum of $933.33 1/3 cents; stands indebted and bound unto said Nancy Stephens, Mary Lucas, Rebecca Lucas and Susan Lucas . . . in the sum of $1,866.66 2/3, with legal interest for the same. . . . the said Ezra Brandenburg in consideration of the said debt in the sm of $1,866.66 2/3 owing to said Nancy Stephens, Mary Lucas, Rebecca Lucas and Susan Lucas, as aforeward, and for securing payment thereof with interest to said parties of the second part . . . and also in consideration of the further sum of $5 . . . all that tract of land lying and being in Frederick County, MD known by the name of "Middle Plantation" containing 102 acres more or less being same tract of land which was conveyed to said Nancy Stephens, Mary Lucas, Rebecca Lucas and Susan Lucas to said Ezra Brandenburg by deed bearing date April 1856 . . . it being also the same property on which the said Ezra Brandenburg now resides- adjoining the lands of Michael Lease, Eli Son's and others . . . that said Ezra Brandenburg . .. do and shall will and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Nancy Stephens, Mary Lucas, Rebecca Lucas and Susan Lucas the sum of $1,66.66 2/3 with legal interest . . . that is to say half of said money on the 5th day of April 1857 and the other half on the same day of the year 1858 without any deduction or abatement . . .
