All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Mark Ault meault@yahoo.com February 10, 2009, 2:23 pm Resurvey on Dispatch; Kemp's Delight Written: May 3, 1784 Recorded: May 3, 1784 Frederick County Land Records WR 4 468 At the request of Lodowick Kemp the following deed was recorded on the third day of May Anno Domini 1784 to wit This indenture made this third day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty four Between Christian Kemp of Frederick County in the State of Maryland of the one part and his son Lodwick Kemp of the County and State of the other part Witnesseth that he the said Christian Kemp for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds current money to him in hand paid by the said Lodwick Kemp, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold, and doth give grant alien make over and confirm, and thath by these presents aliened given granted and confirmed unto the said Lodwick Kemp, part of a tract of land part of the Resurvey on Dispatch, and Kemp’s Delight, beginning at the end of six perches, on the fifth course of Dispatch, on of the originals, and running thence with said Dispatch south thirty seven perches, east eighty perches, south thirteen perches, west twenty four and half perches, to the eighth line of Lodwick Kemp’s, part of said Resurvey and part of Small Gains, heretofore conveyed him by Christian Kemp, then with said eighth line north forty three and a quarter perches, west forty three perches to a stone marked LK and still with said line north forty three perches west forty six perches, then by a straight line to the beginning containing twelve acres of land with all improvements commodities and advantages thereunto belonging or appertaining to have and to hold all and singularly the premises to him the said Lodwick Kemp his heirs and assigns forever, to the use and behoof of him his heirs or assigns and to no other use intend or purpose whatsoever. And the said Christian Kemp for himself and for his heirs do covenant and agree to and with the said Lodwick Kemp his heirs and assigns that he the said Christian Kemp and his heirs the said twelve acres of land with the appurtenances to him the said Lodwick Kemp his heirs or assigns will warrant and defend against all persons whatsoever claiming, or shall hereafter claim any right or title to the same from by or under him the said Christian Kemp and his heirs shall and will from time to time, and at any time or times hereafter at the reasonable request and proper cost and charge of the said Lodwick Kemp his heirs or assigns do perform and execute any further act or acts conveyance or other assurance for the better assurance, and more firm conveyance of the premises aforesaid. In witness whereof the said Christian Kemp hat hereunto set his Hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written. Signed sealed and delivered in presence of Christian Kempp {seal} Jno Harrison Geo Murdock On which deed were endorsed the following viz “Received this 3d day of May 1784 of Christian Kemp fifty pounds current money, it being the consideration within mentioned. Witness Jno Harrison Geo Murdock Christian Kempp State of Maryland On the 3d day of May 1784 came Christian Kemp party of the within deed, before us the subscribers, two of the Justices of the Peace for the State aforesaid, and acknowledged the within deed according to act of assembly in that case mind and provided. Ath the same time came Gertraut, wife of the said Christian Kemp, and acknowledged her Right of Dower of and to the within mentioned land, and said that she did the same freely and willingly, without being compelled thereto by her said husband of for fear of his displeasure.
