All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/md/mdfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Donald Fair eagle6h@hotmail.com August 8, 2011, 6:05 am Assigned To: Jeremiah Slider Resurvey on Brothers Agreement Written: November 14, 1785 Recorded: November 17, 1785 Frederick County Maryland office of Register and Recorder of Land Records Land Record Book WR-6 Page 185 At the Request of Charles Fair the following Deed was Recorded 17th November 1785 to wit Maryland sst(sp) This Indenture made this fourteenth day of November seventeen hundred and eighty five Between Jacob Slider Son and Heir at Law of Jeremiah Slider State of Pennsylvania deceased of the one part and Charles Fare of the County of Frederick of the other part Witnesseth that the said Jacob Slider for and in Consideration of the Sum of sixteen pounds four Shillings Current Money to him in Hand paid by the said Charles Fare at and before the Sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof him the said Jacob Slider doth hereby acknowledge, and himself therewith to be fully satisfied and said hath given granted bargained and sold and by these Presents doth give grant bargain and sell unto the aforesaid Charles Fare Page 186 his Heirs and Assigns forever All that Tract or parcel of Land being part of a Tract called “The Resurvey on Brothers Agreement” lying in the County aforesaid. Beginning at a Spanish Oak being at a Corner of John Borelin’s(sp) Land and running thence South seventeen degrees west sixteen perches South seventy five degrees East seventy two perches. North thirty seven degrees East fifty three perches North thirty eight degrees West fifty eight Perches North fifteen degrees East eighty perches. South seventy tow degrees West thirty seven perches. South twenty four degrees West twenty perches Then by a direct Line to the Beginning containing fifty Acres of Land more or less Together with all and singular these premisses(sp) with the Appurtenances thereunto belonging To have and to hold the said Tract or Parcel of Land and premisses(sp) with the Appurtenances thereunto belonging unto him the said Charles Fare his Heirs and Assigns forever, to his and their own proper Use and Behold and to no other Use Intent or Purpose whatsoever. And the said Jacob Slider for himself his Heirs Executors and Administrators doth covenant grant and agree to and with the said Charles Fare his Heirs and Assigns that he the said Jacob Slider and his Heirs and the said Tract of Land and premisses(sp) with the Appurtenances unto him the said Charles Fare his Heirs and Assigns, as well against him the said Jacob Slider his Heirs Execu. and Admis. As against all manner of Persons claiming or to claim under him or them, shall and will warrant and forever defend by these Presents. In Testimony whereof the said Jacob Slider hath hereto set his Hand affixed his Seal the day and year aforesaid----- Signed sealed and delivered in presence of us. On the back thereof the following were endorsed to wit On the 14th of November 1785 received of Charles Fare the Sum of sixteen pounds four Shillings Current Money it being the Consideration within mentioned Test John McAlister John Gwinn Junr. Received(sp) Jacob Shlyter Frederick County (sp) On the 14th November 1785. Then came Jacob Slider before us the Subscribers two of the Justices of the peace for said County and acknowledged the within Instrument of Writing to be his Act and deed and the Lands and premisses(sp) therein mentioned to be the right and Estate of the within named Charles Fair his Heirs and Assigns forever according(sp) to the free Intent and Meaning thereof --- John McAlister Jno Gwinn Junr Note: This is the second tract of land bought by Charles Fair which is contained within the boundaries of the “Resurvey on Brothers Agreement”. The Res. On Brothers Agreement being land surrounding what is present day city limits of Taneytown, MD extending in an arc of approximately 2 miles directly north, east, and south.
