  The funeral of John J. Russell took place yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock.  
Services were held in Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church.  Rev. William H. Fax 
officiated.  The pallbearers were Paul Young, John Parker, Lloyd Cole, Chas. 
Carroll, George Nichols, William Lee.  Interment was made at Greenmount 
Cemetery.  A. T. Rice & Sons were the funeral directors.  Quite a number of the 
white friends of the deceased were present at the church.
