W. Barrick and Sons, Inc. lime Company, Woodsboro, was electrocuted about 3:45 p. m. Friday whle at work unloading a hoisted bucket of stone into the crusher. Seeing Albaugh fall into the stone-bucket he had started to much out, the electric-hoist operator shut off all power in that section of the plant, thinking the man had fainted. Four fellow-workmen of Albaugh’s on the same operation, rushed to ascertain what was wrong with him and extricate him from the hoist bucket. Claude H. Barrick, manager of the plant, said “It is fortunate that no more workmen were electrocuted. The steel plates at the top of the crusher were shorted with a full 440-volt current used in our plant.” Tracing Cause. Electricians were immediately called in to trace the cause of the shorted equipment which caused the electrocution of Albaugh, but had not been able to find the broken line immediately. The manager said that portions of the Barrick plant will remain out of operation until the cause of the electrification of equipment is found. According to the management, Albaugh had been working at the quarry operation for about four years. Yesterday afternoon was his shift to work atop the stone-crusher, completing the dumping of carloads of stone hoisted from the quarry, into the crusher. The electric hoist operator said Albaugh had just dumped a bucket of stone into the sizer and stepped around the hoisted bucket to clean out the residue when he was seen to fall directly into the poised receptacle. Killed Instantly Mr. Barrick said Albaugh was apparently killed instantly when he stepped onto the baseplates on top of the crusher’s feeder platform. The electrical installation is only 15-months old and was fully conduited. Deputy Sheriff George Layman and the acting county medical examiner, reached the accident scene about 6:45 p. m. A verdict of death due to electrical shock, was given. Albaugh was a native of Howard County, born September 18, 1914. He lived with his wife, Betty Jane Foreman Albaugh, and there 1½ year old daughter Shirley Anne, near Woodsboro. Surviving beside the widow and daughter are his mother, Mrs. Elsie Albaugh Putman, his step-father Gailard Putman; two half- brothers, Gailard and Russell Putman, all of near Woodsboro. The body rests at the funeral home in Walkersville, where friends may call after 6 o’clock this evening. Funeral services will be conducted there Monday 2 p. m. Interment will be in Mt.
