Alexander Mrs. Sylvia Irene Alexander, widow of Lewis H. Alexander, died suddenly at her home, 419 West South street, Tuesday evening at 6:15 o’clock, aged 78 years. She was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Catherine Rhoderick Anders and a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Woodsboro. Mrs. Alexander was also a member of Samaritan Rebekah Lodge 51, Pythian Sisters Mountain City Temple 14, Ladies Auxiliary Francis Scott Key Post 11 American Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary of the V. F. W. Surviving her are one daughter and three sons, Mrs. Willard M. Beall Jr., Washington; Sheriff Horace M. Alexander, this city; Major Cleon H. Alexander, Honolulu, Hawaii and Kenneth L. Alexander, Hagerstown; one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Doris Strine, Woodsboro; Oscar Anders, Oskaloosa, Iowa and George Anders, Dayton, Ohio. Six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. The body rest at the funeral home, 106 East Church street where friends may call after seven o’clock this evening. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home, Friday morning at eleven o’clock. Interment in Mount Hope cemetery, Woodsboro. M. R. Etchison and Son, funeral directors.
