The Daily News, Frederick, Maryland, Friday, 3 January 1890

Died at the family residence near this city, at 3.30 o’clock yesterday afternoon,
Mrs. Elizabeth S., widow of the late Sebastian G. Cockey.  Death ensued after a 
lingering illness of a complication of diseases, paralysis of the throat having 
occurred about two weeks ago.  Mrs. Cockey was in the 73rd year of her age.  Her 
maiden name was Miss Sprigg.  Her husband died about a year ago.  She leaves six 
children, Mrs. Alex Haverstick, Frostburg; Mrs. John Brosius, Baltimore; Otho 
Cockey, New York; William, St. Paul, Minn.; S. Sprigg Cockey and Mrs. Kate Lester, 
of this city.  The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 1 o’clock, 
interment will be made in the family lot at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
