CRONISE DIES, AGED, 87 Succumbs To Bronchial Pneumonia Following Four-Day Illness. [picture] Americus Casper Cronise, well known retired farmer, died at noon Friday at his home, 230 Dill avenue, following a four-day illness of bronchial pneumonia. He was aged 87 years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Alice Emmaline Bream Cronise, and five children; Clayton H., of Frederick; Mrs. Guy Rebert, Gettysburg, Pa.; Mrs. Harry Worman, Baltimore; Mrs. O. Leonard Storm and Mrs. Richard F. Simmons, Frederick; thirteen grandchildren and two great0grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Charles Brewbaker, and a brother, Webster N. Cronise, both of Roanoak [sic], Va., also survive. Mr. Cronise was a life-long Republican and a devout member of the Evangelical Lutheran church. He was the son of Jacob and Annie M. (Ramsburg) Cronise, and was born February 3, 1850 on a farm near Lewistown. He acquired his education in the public schools and remained with his father until he was twenty-three, when he began farming on his own account. In 1875 Mr. Cronise bought part of a farm which his father had previously purchased near Roanoke, Va., and successfully cultivated it until 1889. In that year he sold the place, which contained 208 acres and returned to Maryland, where he bought the farm now owned by Robert Witter, at Harmony Grove. He operated it successfully for a number of years, retiring in 1917 and moving to his present address on Dill Avenue. Last February 23, Mr. and Mrs. Cronise observed their sixty-fourth wedding anniversary, having been married on February 23, 1873 in Arendtsville, Pa., by Rev. M. Snyder, pastor of the Lutheran church. Funeral services will be held from the late home Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Interment in Mr. Olivet cemetery, M. R. Etchison and Son, funeral directors.
