The Daily News, Frederick, Maryland, Friday, 31 January 1890

David Gilbert, father of Geo. A. Gilbert, died this morning at his home on East
Second street at 5.30 o’clock in his 90th year, from the result of injuries 
received by falling down a flight of stairs yesterday evening whilst suffering 
from an attack of paralysis.  The deceased was at his son’s store yesterday 
afternoon in his usual good health.  He had long been a resident of Frederick 
and was well-known by the older citizens.  His funeral will take place at 3 
o’clock tomorrow afternoon, interment at Mt. Olivet.  In his fall Mr. Gilbert 
suffered a fracture of the skull.
