Born July 29, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Maude Reva Haney Knight. In addition to caring for her family, Mrs. Knight devoted her time to offering care to others. She was a member of Damascus Church of God, and recently attended Destiney Christian Center, Libertytown, where she would sing upon occasion. Surviving are five children, Bob, Bill and Jackie King, Kenny King Sr. and wife Linda, and Shannon Honaker and husband Jeff, all of Frederick; six grandchildren, Heather, Kenny Jr., Brandi and Savannah King and Alyssa Honaker, all of Frederick, and Addey King of West Virginia; eight siblings, Charles C. Knight of Charlottesville, Va., Anna Mae Knight of Scottsville, Va., Jerry E. Knight of Mount Airy, Walter L. Knight of Monrovia, Georgie M. Knight of Muncie, Ind., Arnette D. and Carl D. Knight of Fort Ritchie, Fla., and Phyllis Windsor of Ijamsville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She also will be remembered by her son Bill's fiancée Cheryl Bladen, her granddaughter Heather's fiancé Randy Wade, and special friend Andy Edwards of Frederick. A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. June 14, at Destiny Christian Center, formerly the Potter's House, at 9204 North St. in Libertytown. The Rev. Jerry W. Teaford Jr. officiated. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were handled by Keeney and Basford Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Norma A. Knight Memorial Fund, in care of Destiny Christian Center, P.O. Box 303, Libertytown, MD 21762-0303. *****June 22, 2000***** Joann Margaret Sheely Joann Margaret Sheely, age 66 died suddenly at her home Monday, June 12th of an acute cardiac arrest. Mrs. Sheely, born Joann Margaret Gesell, was a Baltimore native and longtime resident of Ellicott City. A graduate of Western High School in Baltimore, Mrs. Sheely was a 1956 graduate of the University of Maryland's School of Nursing and spent her early career as an emergency room nurse at University Hospital, working with Dr. R. Adams Cowley, a medical pioneer in the development of the hospital's renowned Shock Trauma Center. Mrs. Sheely was later a nursing instructor at the University of Maryland and Howard Community College. She retired from the Maryland State Department of Health and Hygiene's Healthy Kids, Healthy Start Program in 1996. Mrs. Sheely was a past president of Historic Ellicott City Inc., and worked successfully in the 1970's to preserve and restore the Ellicott City B & O Railroad Museum. A lover of fine books and antiques, Mrs. Sheely was a chairwoman for the St. John's Episcopal Church's Annual Antique Show and served as a docent at the University of Maryland's School of Nursing Museum in Baltimore. Mrs. Sheely is survived by her husband of 42 years, Howard Randolph Sheely, III, her sons Howard and Charles, and her grandson, Hunter. A memorial service was held June 24, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ellicott City. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the University of Maryland's School of Nursing scholarship fund. *****June 29, 2000***** Andrew Tyler Mr. James F. Perry, 78, of Big Timber, Mont., died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at Livingston Memorial Hospital in Montana. He was the husband of Lillian Perry. Born June 12, 1921, in Frederick, he was a son of the late Harry Clay and Nannia Bentz Perry. Mr. Perry was a lifelong member of Damascus Volunteer Fire Department. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He was a member of American Legion Post 19 in Big Timber, and a former member of the Damascus American Legion post. Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Diane Colpo and husband James of Big Timber; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; eight sisters, Harriet Gartner of Gaithersburg, Virginia Federline of Sun City Center, Fla., Ruth Bowman of Gaithersburg, Sue Wynne, Frances Kennedy and Dorothy Beebe, all of Frederick, Roxanne Stewart of Santa Fe, N.M., and Janet Bognaski of Columbia; and four brothers, Harry C. Perry Jr. of Silver Spring, Richard Perry of Gaithersburg, Lawrence Perry of Damascus, and David Perry of Germantown. Funeral services were held June 13, at First Congregation Church of Big Timber.
